Position Summary

Join our dynamic team as a Spacesuit Test Engineer and become a vital contributor to support NASA as an Oceaneering Teammate on the JSC Engineering, Technology, and Science (JETS) II contract. As an integral part of our organization, you'll play a crucial role in the xEMU Project Management & Systems Engineering section in the Engineering Department on the NASA JSC Engineering, Technology and Science II (JETS II) Contract.

Someone in this role would typically have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and five (5) years of experience. This position can be hired at any level in our professional career framework, depending on business need at the time of hire.
**International travel may be required. Straight time overtime, 9/80 work schedule (every other Friday off), and/or 1 day of telework per week may be available**

Duties & Responsibilities

SOME OF YOUR MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

* Perform project and test engineering functions for EVA spacesuit design, development, procurement, manufacture, test, and certification.
* Develop essential documentation for the assigned tests including test plans, hazard analyses, test procedures, Test Readiness Review documentation, and any additional operations-related products.
* Design tests and test rigs, identifying instrumentation and data acquisition systems.
* Coordinate test activities and requirements with NASA test facilities.
* Setup and execute tests and prepare summary reports documenting test results.
* Become a certified Suit Test Engineer and lead the execution of spacesuit testing.
* Plan and execute hardware troubleshooting to investigate mechanical and electrical failures within spacesuit hardware, development test articles, or test support hardware.
* Select and apply engineering techniques to analyze and evaluate specific problems, data, or other features of the work which are broad in scope and Perform job functions based on pre-established guidelines or instructions.
* Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

REQUIRED

* Bachelor's degree in engineering and a minimum of five (5) years of related experience.
* Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the field, such as mechanical and electrical system design, engineering drawings and sketches, material selection, and component level and system level testing.

PREFERRED

* Experience as a project engineer or test engineer.
* Experience with NASA test processes.
* Familiar with electro-mechanical hardware elements (pumps, relief valves, control valves, heating elements, water quality instrumentation, temperature/pressure sensors, etc.), and data acquisition systems.
* Experience with oxygen systems or life support systems or LabView programming are all pluses.

Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.
Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which the position is advertised.
