AP/AR Intern

Background:

Ingersoll Rand's Intern program provides current college students with challenging assignments, leadership training, and valuable exposure to our company's senior leaders and opportunities to network. Our 3-month internship opportunity offers candidates working toward their Bachelor's in Accounting/Finance exposure to variety assignments within the AR (Accounts Receivable) and AP (Accounts Payable) North America team focusing on Credit Management, Collection and Cash Application processes.

At Ingersoll Rand we value our people, their development and learning opportunities. Through our Internship program, participants will have an opportunity to interview for our full-time, post-graduate program IR Next for Accounting/Finance.

Successful Candidate's Profile:

We are looking for performance-driven, innovative student leaders who understand the importance of collaboration and customer focus. A successful AR/AP NAM Intern candidate will exhibit the following:

  • Collaborate with others to foster effective teamwork by linking own responsibilities to the team's goals and needs - zeal for new information, knowledge, and experiences
  • Communicate effectively with people and teams around the world (all business communication is officially in English, fluency in other languages is not necessary, but may be advantageous)
  • Utilize financial data to diagnose business strengths and weaknesses as well as the implications for potential strategies
  • Identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
  • Pursuing a BS/BA in Accounting or Finance with a cumulative overall GPA at or above 3.0
  • Minimum Work Experience: At least one internship or work experience
  • Demonstrated leadership skills such as: campus organizations, sports team captain, resident advisor, etc. or exceptional leadership of work projects

Expected Workload:

While the exact tasks assigned may vary (and flexibility and adaptability are important traits for the role), some of the expected items that may be assigned include:

  • Comparison of processes to various part of the organization including EMEIA region processes.
  • Support analyzing individual collector workload and account distribution between collectors. Prepare proposals to improve the account distribution within the team and ultimately productivity of the department.
  • Review SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) for some tasks to ensure that the SOP is accurate, easy to understand and follow, and includes the necessary screen prints and references to other SOPs; suggest changes or updates to SOPs based on review
  • Support collectors for various collection processes, when need arise.
  • Work with other AP/AR colleagues within NAM or globally as well as other departments/teams to work on projects or research as needed; communicate effectively with all levels of colleagues to determine solutions and ideas for improvements
