Food Service Worker (Part Time)

Job Summary

This position pays $17.20 per hour with $4.57 Health and Welfare (H&W). Must be available all three shifts, days, nights, weekends, and, holidays. Ensure compliance with the performance work standards for food handling, serving, cleaning and distribution. Perform a wide variety of manual tasks in the kitchen or dining area of a dining facility, which involves light to moderate physical effort and is done according to established procedures.

Primary Duties

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. These duties and responsibilities will be rated on the Annual Performance Review.

  • Set up food on cafeteria lines and portion food for individual servings in accordance with instructions.

  • Replace glassware, dishes, and silverware and refill condiment containers. Wipe and wash tables and countertops.

  • Clean work area, utensils, and equipment; remove garbage; mop floors; clean walls and windows.

  • Remove dirty dishes, glasses, and silverware from serving counters. Mix washing solutions and operate electric dish washing machine and/or wash, rinse, and sanitize dishes, glassware, pots and pans, and kitchen utensils by hand.

  • Prepare food by paring, cutting, dicing, chopping, washing and/or cleaning vegetables and fruits and/or opening cans and cartons.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Maintain the following in a sanitary condition: equipment, work areas, utensils, and tables.

  • Notify supervisor immediately of malfunctioning, inoperative, unsafe, or hazardous equipment cleaned or used.

  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications: Education, Experience, and Certification(s)

  • High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) preferred.

  • Must pass a military installation background check is required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Good verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent customer service skills.

  • Well-organized and self-directed.

  • The ability, after training, to serve customers at an efficient pace while providing friendly customer service.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. The employee may occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
