Job Summary
This is an ongoing posting to recruit temporary assistant coaches for the sports offered by Elmhurst University's athletic program. Positions are temporary and seasonal, and openings may become available at various times throughout the year. Applications should clearly state which sport an applicant is applying to coach. These positions assist a sport's head coach with day-to-day operations of the program. Qualified applicants understand the mission of the NCAA, Division III athletics, and the role of an athletic department in creating a positive environment for student-athletes.
Salary Range Positions are paid by stipends and compensation is determined by scope of work.
Essential Functions

  • Assists the head coach in the organization and operation of an effective and competitive sport program.
  • Supports the head coach in the coordination of recruiting student-athletes.
  • Attends all pre-season conditioning and non-traditional season practices for the sport.
  • Attends and participates in all team planning sessions with coaching staff.
  • Aides in the planning, organization, and execution of all in-season practice sessions for the sport.
  • Conducts coaching during intercollegiate contests as set and assigned by the head coach.
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of Elmhurst University, NCAA, and CCIW rules and regulations.
  • Adheres to NCAA Compliance Regulations.
  • Endorses and supports other sports within the Athletic Department and fulfills other secondary duties as outlined by the head coach or Director of Athletics.
  • Interacts with all other University constituencies and actively participates in their events.
  • Performs all summer duties (recruitment, summer camps, and clinics) and special projects as assigned by the head coach.
  • Understands and supports the mission, vision, and values of Elmhurst University.


SPECIAL NOTATION:
Staff members must possess a commitment and responsibility for adhering to all rules and regulations of Elmhurst University, the CCIW and the NCAA. Staff members must cooperate with and furnish the NCAA, the CCIW and/or Elmhurst University with truthful and complete information concerning involvement in or knowledge of rules violations. Any person who is found in violation of NCAA regulations shall be subject to disciplinary or corrective actions as set forth in the provisions of the NCAA enforcement procedures, including suspension without pay or termination of employment for significant or repeated violations.

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Organization skills and self-motivation.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
Employee is subject to both indoor and outdoor environmental conditions (temperatures varying from below 32 degrees to over 90 degrees) for periods of over one hour, subject to hazards such as proximity to moving parts, electrical current, etc., and involves heavy work exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds constantly in order to move objects. Must be able to climb stairs and ladders and lift 50 pounds. Must be able to be fitted with and wear a respirator. Must be willing to work an irregular schedule, including weekends, as required.
