JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Penn State Scranton's Center for Business Development and Community Outreachis seeking applicants for Summer Youth ENVIRONMENTAL Camp Counselors.

The Camp Counselor's primary task is to assist the Camp Instructor with daily functions to insure that each camper is provided a quality and enjoyable learning experience. Overall, The Camp Counselor will report directly to the staff of the Center for Business Development and Community Outreach (CBDCO). While providing support to a youth camp, the Camp Counselor will report to the Camp Instructor.

Camp Counselor responsibilities include:
  • Assisting the Camp Instructor with daily tasks;
  • Setting up camp material for the day/week (with or without accommodation)
  • Organizing camp materials at the end of the day & week; (with or without accommodation)
  • Guiding and/or assisting campers with projects;
  • Being attentive to campers for their needs and safety;
  • Escorting campers to designated break areas; and
  • Providing feedback to the CBDCO.

This position requires participation in Mandated Reporter Training and successful background checks prior to the first camp session. Camps run weekly July 8th through August 2nd, 2024. Position pays $12/hour. Must be at least 18 years old.May require the ability to work in an outdoor environment in adverse weather conditions including extreme heat and cold.

This job requires the following 3 publicly available clearances:

* PA State Police Criminal Background Check

* PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form

* FBI Criminal Background Check.
