This role is part of the Lunar Transportation business unit, which develops Blue Origin's multiple Blue Moon lander product lines. To further Blue Origin's mission of having millions of people living and working in space, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.

We are looking for a Valve Design Lead Principal on Lunar Transportation.You will provide technical leadership to a team tasked to develop, build, test and deliver high performing valves in a Lunar Fluid System. We will work on the complete life cycle of the system from definition, interfaces, conceptual design, detailed design, component development, assembly, verification, and operation. As part of your role, you will mentor & train other team members on a growing team. You will become an expert in the valves from raw materials through operational life on a human rated lunar systems. Your knowledge will help you to generate clean sheet valve design options, lead trade studies, surface opportunities and risks, and chart an iterative path to an optimized valve design that will be crucial to this and future generations of spaceflight.

Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, Physics, Systems Engineering or related technical subject area

  • 15+ years of experience in fluids and mechanical systems/components

  • Experience with valve design, GD&T, DFMA

  • Experience developing, integrating, and certifying aerospace hardware for flight

  • Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership of a team

  • Basic cost, schedule, resource, and scope management skills

  • Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills

  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum

Desired:

  • M.S. or Ph. D in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, Physics, Systems Engineering or related technical subject area

  • Cryogenic/Two phase fluids experience

  • Experience designing for launch vehicle and spacecraft applications

  • Experience with the entire life cycle from initial concept design to end of life

Compensation Range for:

CA applicants is $162,465.75-$227,452.05;CO applicants is $153,839.25-$215,374.95;WA applicants is $162,465.75-$227,452.05
