The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

The Licensed Refrigeration Engineer will perform daily refrigeration engineering assignments required by maintenance and/or job orders, by sketch, blueprint illustration, or supervisor's oral directions in operations.

Responsibilities



  • Will perform preventive maintenance and repairs to refrigeration, air condition, ventilation systems and auxiliary equipment utilizing tools, methods and instrumentation for HVAC systems and associated systems.
  • The incumbent will also perform other building maintenance duties within code standards as assigned.



Minimum Qualifications



  • High School diploma or equivalency certificate required. Valid Refrigeration Systems Operator's Certificate of qualification is required and must remain on premises.
  • Must have strong working knowledge in all Pneumatic and Electro-Pneumatic controls.
  • Must be able to work all shifts.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills needed.
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, controls, diagrams and the ability to work safely, independently and reliably from verbal or written instructions.
  • Proficiency in employment of tools, methods, and instrumentation for HVAC systems and associated systems.
  • Applicant's resume and application must be up-to-date.
  • According to Columbia University Medical Center policy, finalist will be asked to submit for drug screening.
  • Required to be Tuberculosis (TB) negative, submit to periodic TB testing, and a chest x-ray if a positive TB test is read.
