Location: Irvine, CA 92612

Work Model: Hybrid Required | Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday Onsite; Monday and Friday Remote

Duration: 6 months (with strong potential for extension based on performance and business needs)

Role Overview:

We are seeking a proactive and analytical Financial Analyst II to support our commercial finance organization. In this role, you will partner directly with FP&A Managers to drive financial cycles, support month-end close, and provide critical variance analysis. This is an analyst-level contributor role designed for a professional with 2-3 years of corporate finance experience who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is looking to grow their career within a highly structured finance team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Planning & Analysis: Support all aspects of monthly, quarterly, and annual planning cycles, including Latest Best Estimates (LBE) and 10-year Long-Range Planning (LRP) for P&L, headcount, balance sheet, and capital.
  • Month-End Close: Assist the Accounting Shared Services team with complete, accurate, and timely monthly actual results. Prepare and review meaningful management reporting packages, including variance analysis and commentary.
  • Reporting & Systems: Utilize Advanced Excel models for financial data analysis. Support tracking and analysis of actual spending through SAP and assist with planning-related activities using SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC).
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with Brand Finance and extended cross-functional teams to gather necessary data, influence decision-making, and ensure budgets are operating within approved guidelines.
  • Operational Support: Provide financial reviews and approvals for purchase order requests and invoices.
  • Project Management: Support key initiatives such as planning system standardization, reporting optimization, and continuous process improvements. Provide ad hoc financial analysis as required by leadership.

What We're Looking For:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting is preferred.
  • Experience: 2 to 3 years of progressive experience in a Financial Analyst or similar corporate finance role. Note: This role is not suitable for recent graduates lacking corporate experience, nor is it a fit for highly senior candidates.
  • Technical Skills: Intermediate-to-Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Candidates must be comfortable jumping into complex Excel models and operating independently with minimal guidance.
  • Accounting Fundamentals: Strong foundational knowledge of accounting principles, journal entries, debits, credits, and identifying the nature of financial spending.
  • Soft Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders without direct reporting authority. Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple strict deadlines simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Industry Experience: Pharmaceutical industry experience is highly preferred (manufacturing experience is not required).
  • Systems Knowledge: Hands-on experience with SAP, SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC), and Power BI.
  • Process Knowledge: Prior exposure to LBE (Latest Best Estimate) and LRP (Long-Range Planning) cycles.
  • Certifications: CPA or MBA is a plus.
