The Career Development Office of the University of Virginia School of Law seeks to hire a Career Development Office Administrator. This is a full-time position reporting to the Senior Assistant Dean for Career Development. The University of Virginia School of Law is consistently recognized as one of the top law schools in the country. The Law School takes pride in its keen sense of collegiality and active intellectual community. The Law School's Career Development Office is comprised of three offices: the Office of Private Practice, the Mortimer Caplin Public Service Center, and the Office of Judicial Clerkships. Career Development's core mission is to help students explore practice alternatives, help students identify and secure summer and post-graduate employment, prepare students for practice, and provide limited alumni support with career transitions. In doing so, Career Development advances the Law School's commitment to cultivating lawyers who are grounded in professionalism, integrity, and service. The extensive legal practice and career counseling experience across all three offices has enabled Career Development to achieve top-of-industry results over many years. The Career Development Office Administrator supports each of the three offices by managing the front desk, coordinating student appointments, and providing customer and administrative support. This role plays a key part in Career Development's mission by creating a welcoming, warm and positive experience for students, employers, judges, alumni, and other visitors. This Office Administrator handles a variety of administrative tasks important to the smooth functioning of the Career Development offices and their successes. These duties include: reviewing and approving job postings, generating pre-defined and ad hoc reports from the career development software platform, conducting targeted outreach to students, updating student and employer records, compiling agendas for weekly staff meetings, scheduling interview rooms and visitor office needs (for employer representatives on Grounds for recruiting events), facilitating alumni counseling appointments, generating invoices, and coordinating office supplies. This role is expected to evolve over time and could include additional responsibilities as organizational needs develop. To succeed in this position, the ideal candidate has a friendly and professional demeanor, is organized and able to multitask and remain calm in a busy environment and has a client-service mindset with the ability to support and work effectively with students, alumni, faculty, staff, and legal employers.
