Job Summary

We are currently seeking an Inspection lead for our Solid Rocket Motor program.

This individual will provide technical support to the quality and quality engineering (QE) functions. Conduct quality control (QC) inspections on products, materials, components, parts, etc., at various stages of the production process to ensure compliance with established quality and reliability standards. Capture and analyze statistical data from processes to either confirm compliance with established standards or identify deviations from standards. Recommends new or enhanced methods, procedures and standards

Typically acts as a lead, coordinating and checking the work of others - but not as a supervisor
Works autonomously within established procedures and practices and typically acts as a lead, coordinating the work of others
Performs manual tasks according to established procedures

Essential Functions

Performs repetitive and routine inspections, checks, tests and sampling procedures of standard parts, units, equipment, or materials.
Performs inspections of purchased parts, subassemblies or finished company products according to well-defined criteria using standard physical, mechanical and/or electrical measurements.
Reworks or rejects subassemblies or finished products as required.
Performs audits to ensure standards of quality are maintained.
Documents the results of the inspections and testing.
Coordinates calibration of test equipment and fixtures.
Assists with inspection procedures, protocol and checklists.

Required Qualifications

Required education and experience: High School Diploma/GED required and 5-7 years' experience OR Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education &/or Experience

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred education and experience: Vocational/Technical Training Degree
Knowledge, skills & abilities: Oral and written communication skills. Mathematical skills. Computer skills. Technical expertise. Detail oriented.

Physical Requirements

Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.
Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds.
May need to stand for long periods of time.
Work may require employee to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery.
May be requested to work a different shift.
Must be willing to work outside normal business hours as required
This position is Safety-Sensitive.
