About the Role

Impact you will make

As an Insurance Discovery Billing Services Lead, you will serve as a hybrid operational and quality leader responsible for driving both billing performance and quality oversight across contractor-based teams supporting Insurance Discovery billing functions.

This role is designed for a remote, onshore leader who ensures operational excellence, compliance, and quality outcomes while supporting customer needs, onboarding new contractors, and maintaining strong performance standards without traditional day-to-day people management structures.

What you will do

Operational Oversight & Contractor Enablement

  • Oversee daily billing operations executed by contractor resources to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and SLA adherence
  • Provide direction, guidance, and support to contractors without requiring structured or recurring 1:1 management
  • Facilitate onboarding of new contractors, including process training, system access coordination, and workflow alignment
  • Act as a point of escalation for operational questions, workflow clarification, and issue resolution

Customer Support & Experience

  • Support customer-facing needs by addressing questions, resolving issues, and ensuring service delivery aligns with client expectations
  • Partner with internal stakeholders and customer teams to resolve billing discrepancies, improve outcomes, and maintain satisfaction

Quality Assurance & Audit Oversight

  • Conduct and oversee targeted quality audits across Insurance Discovery billing activities
  • Analyze audit results to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities
  • Provide structured feedback and recommendations to contractors and leadership to improve accuracy and reduce errors
  • Support post-training and onboarding quality reviews to ensure successful knowledge transfer

Compliance & Risk Mitigation

  • Ensure all billing activities adhere to HIPAA, payer guidelines, and company compliance standards
  • Validate proper insurance identification and billing practices to reduce compliance risk
  • Identify and escalate compliance gaps, trends, or process failures to leadership

Reporting & Performance Monitoring

  • Prepare and review operational and quality reports to track productivity, accuracy, and trends
  • Monitor KPIs and SLAs, identifying areas requiring intervention or support
  • Use data insights to guide process improvements and contractor performance expectations

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including QA, Compliance, Training, and Client Services as needed
  • Participate in meetings on an as-needed basis to address key initiatives, client needs, or performance concerns, rather than maintaining a standing meeting cadence
  • Provide updates to leadership on performance, risks, and improvement initiatives

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve workflows, billing accuracy, and operational efficiency
  • Recommend and support implementation of process improvements and quality controls
  • Promote a culture of accountability, compliance, and high-quality output across contractor teams

What you will bring

  • Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent experience considered
  • 4-7 years of experience in healthcare revenue cycle management or Insurance Discovery billing
  • Experience working with contractor or vendor-based teams preferred
  • Strong background in quality assurance, auditing, or performance oversight
  • Deep understanding of RCM workflows including billing, eligibility, AR, and denials
  • Proven ability to analyze data and drive performance improvements
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and reporting tools

What we would like to see

  • Experience supporting remote, distributed teams
  • Knowledge of quality frameworks (e.g., Six Sigma or similar)
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities
