The Program Manager supports the execution of cross-functional projects related to optics and photonics product development. This role provides project coordination, basic customer interface, and documentation support under the guidance of senior program management staff. It is ideal for candidates looking to grow their skills in a high-tech, team-oriented environment.

Reports to: Manager, Program Management

• Manage technically and logistically complex programs. Responsibility to deliver on time, to specification and at planned cost.
• Create a timeline for each project and actively manage and report performance against the timeline.
• Create a budget for each project with the tools provided by Finance and actively manage and report performance against the budget
• Coordinate activity with engineering, supply chain, and operations organizations to position for success on the project.
• Serve as a primary customer interface for assigned projects, providing superior support, and effectively managing demanding customers.
• Identify, manage, and mitigate project risks.
• Leverage relevant technical knowledge to ensure that technical investigations and developments remain well-aligned to the overall project goals.
• Achieve results while reinforcing company's cultural beliefs and maintaining a chain of accountability.
• Lead each project team and navigate each project through the phase gate review process for the relevant phases (Initiate, Feasibility, Design, Prototype, Pilot, Production)
• Communicate / present relevant project performance to various stakeholders including Excelitas leadership and Customer Stakeholders.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree, BS in Engineering, Business or Science a plus.
• 5+ years of project or program coordination experience, ideally in a manufacturing or technical environment. Optics/photonics experience preferred.
• Project Management (PMP) certification strongly preferred. Uncertified candidates will be expected to commit to pursuing certification.
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
• Experience with MS Project, MS PowerPoint, Configuration Management Systems, ERP systems
• Skill in managing a diverse range of personnel assigned to program in a matrix organization
• Ability to effectively multitask and operate independently, solving problems hands-on when appropriate.

Pay range: $111,000 - $140,000 annually, depending on experience.

Our facility in Boulder, Colorado, has key functions in Research and Development, Operations, Production, and other disciplines. This facility specialises in the manufacturing of ultra-precision optical components, optical thin film coatings and optical sub-assemblies for demanding applications in lasers, materials processing, instrumentation, life sciences, avionics, and defence.

This site offers capabilities that include substantial design and engineering resources, comprehensive optical fabrication and coating capabilities, advanced assembly technology and an extensive in-house metrology lab.
