Department: WCAS Center for Legal Studies
Salary/Grade: NEX/11

Job Summary:

The Program Assistant 3 for the Center for Legal Studies is the sole administrator for the center and works closely with the director, program faculty, and students.

This position is part-time at 25 hours per week and works primarily onsite, with some occasional opportunities for remote work. The target salary range for this position is $23.00 - $26.00 per hour, which is $30,015 - $33,930 per year. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.

This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to work part-time in a collaborative, collegial environment. Successful candidates will have experience working independently, tracking projects and tasks to ensure completion, and staying on top of multiple competing priorities.

Specific Responsibilities:

Student Support:

  • Serve as the first point of contact for students interested in Legal Studies. Respond to inquiries regarding requirements and courses. Directs students to resources as needed. Answers a wide range of questions regarding the Program.

Course Planning:

  • Works closely with Director to ensure annual course schedule is developed accurately and according to deadline. Ensures that the Program submits accurate course schedule information to Dean's Office and Registrar and that courses display accurately in student registration system. Follows up on any errors to ensure correction.

Faculty Support:

  • Coordinates wide range of activities to support the Program's faculty, including faculty searches and promotions. Onboards new faculty, providing overview of relevant policies and procedure and ensures technology and office space needs are met.
  • Communications and Events: Promotes Program through multiple channels, including website, events, and other communications. Maintains website, ensuring information is accurate and current; and creates new webpages.

Documents and Record-keeping:

  • Independently responds to communications; creates and maintains spreadsheets and other records; ensures Program has current records in line with University and College standards.

Budget:

  • Tracks budget, flagging issues for Director; processes transactions in accordance with University policy and procedure.

Program Coordination:

  • As the Program's sole administrator, track College and University deadlines, alerting Director and other faculty of upcoming responsibilities. Attend College and University meetings as the Program's representative and provide relevant updates to Director.

Supervision:

  • May supervise work-study students

Miscellaneous

Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: (Education, experience, and any other certifications or clearances)

  • High school diploma or its equivalent;
  • At least 4 years of administrative support experience

Minimum Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities)

  • Intermediate knowledge of various software programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

  • Previous experience in an educational environment
  • Previous experience in a varied role with a diverse set of tasks
