Pay Rate/Range: The budgeted salary range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $28.00 to $31.00/hour. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience; the budget for the position; and the application of fair, equitable, and consistent pay practices at the University. The full salary range for this position is $28.00 to $34.10/hour.

Department Marketing Statement: Feminist Studies is an interdisciplinary field that produces cutting-edge research and fosters innovative teaching. Learn more about the benefits of working at UC Brief Summary of Job Duties: Under the supervision of the Business Officer in Feminist Studies, the Student Affairs Coordinator supports the academic affairs of the department and provides advising to MA and PhD students. Coordinates all aspects of graduate recruitment, admissions, and orientation for MA and PhD students in Feminist Studies, and MA students in the joint MA program in Black Feminist Studies. Is responsible for classroom scheduling and assisting with the development of the department's annual curriculum plan. Is responsible for the hiring, fee remission, and payroll of all student positions. In collaboration with the Chair and Business Officer, coordinates the selection process for fellowships, Teaching Assistants, and student awards. Serves as liaison for Graduate Division and Office of the Registrar. Provides academic advising to graduate students and makes referrals, as appropriate, to other services such as counseling or social services. Reports to Business Officer, Department Chair, and Director of Graduate Studies on budgetary matters regarding TA allocations, recruitment funds, and fellowship commitments. Maintains records for all graduate degrees in progress and all teaching evaluations. Edits, writes and consults with Chair and Business Officer on written publications for the graduate program as well as departmental brochures and the website. In collaboration with the Business Officer and Chair, develops and implements procedures to ensure efficient flow and retrieval of information. Serves as a resource for Chair, Business Officer, and Director/s of Graduate Studies on University policies and procedures. Communicates effectively with students, faculty, and staff. Works collaboratively and in coordination with Chair and Business Officer in a team environment to complete administrative tasks related to graduate and undergraduate matters in the Department. - Possess competent abilities on a variety of UCSB systems such as STAR, AAA, MCA, eGrades, Ad Astra, ASSIST.org, DSP Portal, etc.

Job Functions and Percentages of Time:
- 60% Graduate Advising, Recruitment and Admissions - ADVISING: In consultation with the Director/s of Graduate Studies, serves as adviser to MA and PhD students in Feminist Studies, and MA students in the joint MA program in Black Feminist Studies. Advises these students on matters concerning their academic welfare, program requirements, petitions, financial aid, policies and procedures, leaves of absences, and registration and enrollment procedures. Directs students to appropriate campus resources. Monitors progress to degree and advises students about meeting academic requirements and maintaining progress. Reviews transcripts quarterly; advises grad director of progress. Updates, distributes, and collects Annual Reports yearly. Tracks progress and provides advising for doctoral emphasis students in Feminist Studies and Black Studies. RECRUITMENT & ADMISSIONS: Coordinates recruitment and admissions in consultation with Director/s of Graduate Studies and Graduate Program Committees. Provides information to prospective domestic and international applicants regarding procedures, programs, faculty, admissions requirements and eligibility, fellowships, housing, financial matters, and transportation. Coordinates recruitment visits and new student meetings. Designs and edits recruitment and promotional materials. Uses Graduate Division's Application Review portal and works with applicants to ensure applications are complete. Routes completed files to Graduate Committees for review. Ensures Graduate Committees are informed of fellowships (multi-year and single year) and eligibility guidelines when preparing nominations. Assists in preparation and submission of offer letters. FINANCIAL: Uses GradPoint to assign Block Grant allocations and track graduate student funding and fee remission. Furnishes Graduate Program Committees with information on applicants; advises on fellowship allocations, restrictions, ongoing commitments, and eligibility. Coordinates with Director/s of Graduate Studies to create and maintain database of financial aid and fellowship deadlines, tracking Department fiscal commitments to graduate students. In consultation with the Director of Graduate Studies, prepares graduate student budgets including TA allocations, Block Grant, and graduate student recruitment funds. Gathers and prepares information from annual reports to be considered by Curriculum and Graduate Committees when assigning TAships, Associate positions, quarters off, and other decisions related to student funding and progress. Works with graduate students to create Associate packets for approval according to guidelines created by Graduate Division, Academic Senate, and/or Summer Sessions. Handles all aspects of employment processing for TA's Associates, and Student Assistant (graduate and undergrad) positions in UCPath. Sends TA and Associate Notification Letters. Drafts and oversees budget for recruitment funds in consultation with Director of Graduate Studies. Updates and disseminates TA application yearly. Collects TA applicant information and provides it to the Chair for review. Coordinates reimbursements for travel and entertainment for recruitment. Collects and submits continuing fellowship application materials. Works with faculty to collect graduate alumni data.
- 30% Scheduling and Curriculum Support - Assists Business Officer, Director of Graduate Studies, and Department Chair in the coordination of academic programs. In collaboration with the department's curriculum committees, supports curriculum planning and course scheduling. Responsible for scheduling classes based on curricular needs and faculty preferences, and requesting preferred day/times and classrooms. Prepares and reviews all proofs and updates of the quarterly schedule of classes, using Blue/STAR and Astra Schedule. Assists Chair and Business Officer in schedule preparation, identifies potential conflicts and implements course enrollment restrictions on schedule proofs and on STAR. Responsible for organizing recruitment selection and employment of Teaching Assistants. Provides information on funding commitments and enrollment statistics to assist in scheduling TA assignments. Provides staff support for curriculum committees. Facilitates yearly edits to undergraduate and graduate requirements as well as catalog updates. Serves as liaison to College of Letters and Science when substantive changes are necessary for undergraduate and graduate programs. Inputs on-line Instructor Workload and course statistical data through the STAR system. Prepares and edits the quarterly IRAL report, ensuring accurate instructor/TA/course tracking. Collaborates with the Business officer in preparation of the annual instructor workload report on STAR. Maintains course evaluation records. Coordinates special student related events, including publicity, room reservations, and reception planning.
- 10% Dept Admin - In collaboration with the Business Officer, provides website content and management for Feminist Studies Website. Acts as back-up UCPath reviewer. Maintains Department e-mail listservs. Provides administrative support to Chair and Business Officer and assists with special program events (lectures, graduation events), including publicity, room reservations, and reception planning as needed. Assists with administrative purchases made through Gateway. May perform other essential duties as assigned.
