About this Position
Pinyon is continuing to grow our energy program, with a specific emphasis on transmission-related work. We're looking for a Market Manager / Project Manager who can operate as both a strategic market leader and a hands-on technical project manager - someone who can continue to build our work in the market, win the work, and deliver it.
This role owns the Energy Program's growth trajectory: developing the market strategy, building client relationships, leading proposals, and managing the technical delivery that keeps our reputation and repeat business strong.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a strategic market plan that maintains and expands Pinyon's presence in the energy/transmission space, including a three-year vision, annual goals, and quarterly objectives.
  • Develop market revenue and growth projections, track progress against strategic plan metrics, and report on results regularly. Maintain strong knowledge of energy and transmission market trends, drivers, and the competitive landscape and use that knowledge to guide Pinyon's positioning.
  • Build and deepen trusting relationships with owners, utilities, engineering firms, contractors, and other partners across the transmission and broader energy market and proactively identify leads and opportunities ahead of formal solicitations.
  • Outline and execute business development activities, both personally and in support of other Pinyon team members pursuing energy work, including participation in relevant professional organizations and industry events.
  • Serve as lead or designated proposal lead on pursuits, including writing and reviewing proposals.
  • Manage projects and complete technical tasks within the energy/transmission portfolio while focusing on a great client experience during project delivery.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Demonstrated experience as a project manager, strategic thinker, and implementor.
  • 10+ years of demonstrated experience as a strong project manager with technical expertise in one of Pinyon's core technical service areas, such as water resources, due diligence/remediation, environmental compliance, environmental engineering, restoration ecology, planning, biology, habitat, wetlands, or related natural resources work.
  • Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent experience in an environmental discipline, such as water resources engineering, civil or environmental engineering, environmental science, biology, environmental planning, or geomorphology.
  • Strong client relationship and business development skills, including the ability to identify opportunities and support or lead pursuits.
  • Strong proposal writing and review skills and the ability to clearly communicate technical and business information.
  • Ability to work effectively with clients, technical teams, company leadership, engineering firms, contractors, and other partners.
  • Prior work on transmission line siting, permitting, or environmental compliance projects.
  • Established relationships with utilities, transmission developers, engineering firms, or contractors in the energy sector are preferred.
  • A track record of developing and carrying out a market or business unit growth plan.
  • Employment is contingent upon passing a background check.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work at a computer and perform typical office-based duties for extended periods.
  • Ability to travel to client meetings, project sites, industry events, and other business-related locations as needed.
  • Ability to walk and stand on uneven terrain and work outdoors during occasional project or site visits.
  • Ability to safely enter and navigate active project sites while following applicable safety requirements.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle for business-related travel.
  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position.
