Admissions Counselor

General Summary of Position:

An Admissions Counselor contributes to the recruitment, application review, territory management, outreach, counseling, and enrollment goals of the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Admissions Counselors are responsible for a variety of admissions-related activities that support the office's recruitment and yield efforts. These responsibilities include conducting in-person and virtual school visits, admissions workshops, parent and student programs, college fairs, and information sessions, as well as participating in virtual recruitment initiatives such as school visits, college fairs, panel discussions, and webinars.

Admissions Counselors are also responsible for reading, evaluating, summarizing, and making recommendations regarding admissions decisions for applicants. In addition, they must effectively manage an assigned recruitment territory by implementing outreach, recruitment, and yield strategies for a diverse population of prospective students, including high-achieving students, underrepresented students, local and out-of-state students, and international students.

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

• Bachelor's Degree, as well as student leadership or higher education experience.
• Willingness to work and succeed outside of a conventional workweek that includes extensive travel (10-12 weeks in the fall and 6-10 weeks in the spring, as well as frequent virtual recruitment opportunities throughout the year).
• Frequent weekend and evening hours required.
• Ability to critically read and analyze applications for admission.
• A valid driver's license and personally owned, reliable transportation is required.

Additional Considerations:

• Proven ability to perform and thrive both independently and as a contributing member of a team is essential.
• Demonstrated ability to recruit in a variety of communities and populations is preferred.

This is a SEIU Professional Union position, Grade P14. Anticipated salary based on qualifications within the range: minimum: $50,359 25th quartile: $56,654 and midpoint: $62,949
