TITLE: QC Technician A

POSITION OBJECTIVE: The Quality Technician is responsible for monitoring the production process to ensure manufactured products meet or exceed established company standards and customer specifications. This position supports Production and Quality through product testing, inspections, in-process evaluations, documentation, problem solving, and identification of quality concerns.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Capable of effectively managing job-related stress and fostering productive workplace interactions.

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Post-Secondary Diploma in a science-related program preferred.
• Legal eligibility to work in the United States.
• Ability to speak, read, and write in English.
• Two years of related work experience, preferably in plastics manufacturing or a quality-related manufacturing environment.
• ISO and/or SQF certification is preferred.
• Experience with ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) testing methods is an asset.
• Knowledge of extrusion processes is an asset.
• Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
• Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, word-processing software, databases, and data entry.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy, particularly when performing testing and completing documentation.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills with the ability to effectively support both Production and Quality.
• Self-motivated with the initiative and accountability to recognize concerns, communicate issues, and follow through on assigned responsibilities.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions based on established company policies, procedures, specifications, and quality requirements.
• Ability to work effectively with minimum supervision while contributing as part of a team.
• Ability to effectively manage job-related stress while maintaining productive and professional workplace interactions.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Inspect and test products and materials to ensure compliance with company standards and customer specifications.
• Support Production through Start-Up Verification, real-time In-Process Evaluations, Quality Walks, and routine production quality inspections.
• Perform physical, mechanical, analytical, visual, and dimensional testing according to established specifications, procedures, work instructions, and applicable ASTM methods.
• Accurately record inspection and test results and communicate findings to Production, Quality, and other appropriate departments.
• Take ownership of assigned testing, documentation, and follow-up activities to ensure required Quality responsibilities are completed accurately and on time.
• Maintain accurate test results, inspection reports, QC database entries, and other required Quality documentation.
• Review applicable production documentation for accuracy and completeness.
• Work closely with Production and Quality to identify and troubleshoot quality issues before and during the manufacturing process.
• Identify, document, and promptly communicate nonconforming product, out-of-specification results, process concerns, and other quality issues.
• Support Quality Holds, Non-Conformance Reports, Root Cause Analysis, Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA), and required follow-up activities.
• Conduct follow-up testing and inspections to verify corrective actions as required.
• Participate in problem solving and Continuous Improvement activities.
• Maintain Quality Assurance documents and records in accordance with Quality Management System requirements.
• Assist with document control, Quality reviews, audits, and preparation of required documentation.
• Participate in ISO, SQF, HACCP, GMP, GLP, internal audits, mock recalls, GMP inspections, and other Quality System activities.
• Maintain applicable calibration and verification records for laboratory and production-floor testing equipment.
• Properly operate testing equipment and promptly report equipment concerns that could affect testing accuracy.
• Assist with customer complaints, returns, investigations, testing, and supporting documentation.
• Support customer plant tours by demonstrating testing methods and communicating applicable Quality procedures as requested.
• Conduct or assist with Quality-related and refresher training.
• Assist with the development, review, and revision of SOPs, work instructions, Quality forms, and procedures.
• Provide clear and complete shift-turnover communication regarding outstanding testing, Quality Holds, product concerns, special requirements, and other critical Quality information.
• Maintain proper General Laboratory Practices (GLP) and a clean, organized, and safe laboratory.
• Follow all company policies, procedures, safety requirements, Quality standards, SQF/HACCP requirements, and GMP policies.
• Work collaboratively with Production, Quality, Maintenance, Technical, and Leadership.
• Provide backup support for other Quality Technician and laboratory responsibilities as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Quality Management.

WORK ENVIRONMENT CONDITIONS SUBJECTED TO IN THIS POSITION:

• Working inside a warehouse
• Working in a hot environment

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION:

• Ability to stand, walk, and change positions frequently over an twelve hour period. The position requires walking up to 12 hours per work shift.
• Ability to exert muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects. (Lifting requirements up to and including 30 lbs) (frequently)
• Ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body, arms, and or legs.
• Must be able to reach and lift above shoulders (frequently)
