| Job Description Summary |
The HR Operations Partner is a cross-functional Human Resources professional responsible for supporting the effective, compliant, and responsive delivery of HR programs, operations, and services across the University.
As a member of a collaborative HR team, the HR Operations Partner is cross-trained across HR functional areas and serves as a professional-level backup across all HR positions to ensure continuity of service during absences, vacancies, high-volume periods, annual cycles, and changing operational priorities. |
| Essential Functions |
HR Operations and Program Coordination
- Coordinate key HR programs and recurring processes, including annual compliance training and employee lifecycle activities.
- Serve as a cross-functional backup across all HR positions and functional areas, providing coverage as needed during absences, vacancies, high-volume periods, annual cycles, and changing operational priorities.
- Respond to routine employee and supervisor questions and appropriately escalate complex or specialized matters.
- Support the Vice President of Human Resources and HR team with projects, institutional initiatives, and emerging priorities.
Employee Benefits and Wellness
- Provide professional-level backup support and coverage for employee benefits and wellness programs.
- Assist employees with routine benefits questions, enrollment requirements, and available resources.
- Support annual open enrollment, benefits communications, employee education, enrollment activities, and wellness initiatives.
- Assist with benefits data review, reconciliation, documentation, and coordination with employees, vendors, and internal partners.
- Support workers compensation and leave administration processes.
Talent Acquisition and Employee Experience
- Provide professional-level backup support for talent acquisition and employee experience.
- Support position postings, applicant tracking, interview coordination, candidate communications, pre-employment processes, and hiring documentation.
- Support hiring managers and candidates throughout the recruitment and hiring process.
- Coordinate and support onboarding activities.
- Lead employee engagement, recognition, events, and other employee experience initiatives as needed.
HR Systems, Data and Organizational Support
- Maintain accurate employee, position, reporting relationship, and organizational information across HR systems and records, including but not limited to: Colleague, PeopleAdmin, HR@Hand, and Culture Amp.
- Conduct routine data audits, resolve discrepancies, and prepare HR reports as needed.
- Maintain organizational charts and support documentation of position, reporting, and organizational changes.
Policy, Compliance and Documentation
- Support the annual review and update of the HR Operations Manual and Staff Manual in partnership with HR leadership and appropriate subject matter experts.
- Maintain HR documentation, compliance reports, and audit-ready records.
- Support consistent application of University HR policies, procedures, and established practices.
- Maintain working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local employment requirements.
Process Improvement and HR Service Delivery
- In partnership with HR functional experts, improve workflows and processes to improve efficiency, accuracy, consistency, and employee service.
- Develop and maintain procedures, templates, checklists, guides, and other HR operational resources.
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes and reduce unnecessary manual work.
- Support implementation of new HR programs, processes, systems, and operational practices.
- Coordinate updates to the HR website to ensure HR information and resources remain accurate and current.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support the needs of the Human Resources department and the University. |
| Required Education, Experience, Technology Applications and Skills |
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of Human Resources experience across multiple HR functional areas.
- Broad working knowledge of HR practices, employment requirements, and HR compliance.
- Experience with HR information systems, including Colleague, and proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, manage competing priorities, and work effectively as part of a collaborative HR team.
