JOB DESCRIPTION:
Wofford College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track assistant professor of management to join its Department of Accounting, Business and Finance starting in Fall 2027. At Wofford, faculty serve as teacher-scholars dedicated to the education and mentorship of undergraduates in a liberal arts tradition. Faculty earn tenure after six years by demonstrating excellence in teaching, continued scholarly development, participation in advising, and service to the college.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants will have:
- Earned a Ph.D. in Management, or closely related field, by August 2027. Candidates with MS/MB Aand significant, relevant professional experience will also be considered. In all cases, degrees must be earned from an accredited institution, and Demonstrated commitment to excellence in in-person, undergraduate-level teaching.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with in-person teaching of undergraduate students, Relevant industry experience, Excellent communication skills, Enthusiasm for advising undergraduate students, Commitment to teaching at a small, liberal arts college, and Ability to engage in scholarship embodied in theory or practice.
EXPECTATIONS:
Wofford faculty members are primarily educators committed to excellence in teaching. Faculty expectations include:
- Teaching - Faculty develop and practice effective, student-centered pedagogies to facilitate our students academic development. For humanities and social science faculty, a standard teaching load is 3-1-3, including a January term commonly referred to as Interim.
- Scholarship Faculty engage in scholarship. Wofford embraces a broad definition of scholarship that includes discipline-specific, pedagogical and interdisciplinary research. Scholarship may include, but is not limited to, publication, obtaining and maintaining professional certification or licensure, engaging students in service learning, or participation in academic conferences.
- Advising - Faculty participate in the Colleges advising program by advising students in both the general education curriculum as well as majors/minors in the faculty members discipline.
- Service Faculty contribute to the mission of the College by participating in service opportunities which include, but are not limited to, faculty committee service. Faculty also support the institution by participating in faculty governance, departmental meetings, admissions events, and athletic events.
