Join the team at Baker College as an Intern-Maintenance! Build your skills, gain valuable hands-on experience, and launch your maintenance career. Working alongside experienced professionals, you'll receive training and mentorship in facility and grounds maintenance, including equipment repairs, electrical, carpentry, plumbing, painting, landscaping, furniture setup, door and carpet repairs, parking lot and winter maintenance, and safe material handling. You'll also develop communication, computer, and Facilities Management System skills-all while gaining the knowledge and confidence needed to prepare for a future Maintenance I role. This position provides hands-on training and experience in a wide range of maintenance activities, including equipment, building, grounds, and parking lot upkeep. Under the guidance of experienced maintenance staff, the intern will develop skills in basic electrical, carpentry, plumbing, painting, landscaping, furniture setup, door and carpet repairs, snow and ice removal, forklift operation, and safe material handling, while also building communication, computer, and Facilities Management System skills. Candidates must possess a High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Experience in maintenance is strongly preferred. Must have excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills.
