POSITION DESCRIPTION

LEGAL & COMPLIANCE INTERN

POSITION OBJECTIVES: To provide administrative and project support in the areas of legal and compliance through document review, records organization, filing, data entry, research, and the use of computer applications. To assist the department in locating and compiling information, maintaining accurate and organized records, and completing special projects as assigned. To consistently work and communicate in a team-oriented environment in accordance with the Cooperative's mission, vision, and values.

MINIMUM JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

All requirements are subject to possible modification to reasonably accommodate individuals with disabilities.

EDUCATION: Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university and actively pursuing a Bachelor's Degree.

EXPERIENCE: Previous experience with basic office, administrative, or clerical work is preferred.

KNOWLEDGE: Must possess a basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, Windows operating systems, electronic file management, and general office procedures. Must be able to read documents and identify, locate, and accurately record specified information.

SKILLS: Must be organized, detail-oriented, dependable, and able to manage multiple assignments. Must communicate effectively, maintain confidentiality, follow written and verbal instructions, use sound judgment, and accurately complete routine administrative tasks with appropriate supervision.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS AND CONDITIONS:

Reports to: Chief Financial Officer

Directs:None

Internal: Shall foster the development of those supportive relationships essential to the fulfilling of the functions of this position, achieving the results expected and encouraging throughout the organization the concepts of teamwork and cooperative spirit.

External: Shall maintain supportive relationships with member-consumers, the general public and other contacts to assure that satisfactory results are achieved.

Physical activity of the position: Hearing, talking, repetitive motions.

Physical requirements:Sedentary work.

Visual Acuity: Administrative and clerical work requiring close visual attention to documents and computer screens.

Conditions:Not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Assist with general administrative and clerical duties for the areas of legal and compliance, including copying, scanning, filing, labeling, and organizing documents and records.

2. Review documents to locate, identify, and compile specific information requested by department staff.

3. Create, update, and maintain spreadsheets, databases, logs, trackers, and other electronic records using Microsoft Office products and company systems.

4. Organize and maintain paper and electronic files in accordance with department procedures, record-retention requirements, and confidentiality expectations.

5. Assist with preparing, formatting, proofreading, assembling, and distributing correspondence, reports, presentations, forms, policies, and other documents.

6. Enter data accurately and verify information for completeness, consistency, and proper documentation.

7. Assist with legal, regulatory, compliance, and policy-related research and the organization of research results, as directed.

8. Help gather and organize materials for audits, investigations, training, meetings, regulatory filings, and other departmental projects.

9. Assist with scheduling, meeting preparation, note-taking, follow-up items, and other office coordination as assigned.

10. Handle confidential, sensitive, or privileged information with discretion and in accordance with Cooperative policies and departmental instructions.

11. Participate in special projects and provide administrative support to staff and other departments as needed.

12. Be familiar with and follow the best safety practices set forth in the Cooperative's Safety Manual.

13. Attend job training, safety meetings, department meetings, and the annual meeting as required or directed.

14. Perform other duties as may be required or directed.
