Position Summary: The Air Traffic Manager (ATM) serves as the Company's principal subject matter expert and operational liaison for global air traffic management, airspace operations, and strategic traffic flow initiatives. This position is responsible for monitoring, evaluating, coordinating, and mitigating the operational impact of domestic and international airspace constraints, Air Traffic Control (ATC) initiatives, and regulatory restrictions to ensure the safe, compliant, and efficient execution of worldwide flight operations.

As a key member of the Global Control Center (GCC), the Air Traffic Manager provides strategic operational leadership and real-time decision support to Flight Dispatch, System Operations Control, Flight Operations, and Airfield Operations.

The role serves as the central coordination point between Atlas Air and domestic and international Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSPs), including the FAA, NAV CANADA, EUROCONTROL, NATS, CAAC, and other governmental and regulatory agencies influencing the Company's global network.

Major Job Accountabilities:


Air Traffic Management & Regulatory Coordination:

  • Serve as the primary operational liaison between Atlas Air and domestic and international Air Navigation Service Providers, airport authorities, and regulatory agencies.
  • Establish and maintain strategic working relationships with FAA Air Traffic Organization leadership and key external stakeholders.
  • Monitor and assess National Airspace System constraints, traffic flow initiatives, and international airspace restrictions impacting operations.
  • Support implementation of NextGen, Performance-Based Navigation (PBN), and emerging air traffic management technologies.


Operational Leadership:

  • Lead strategic response and recovery efforts during irregular operations (IROPs), severe weather events, ATC disruptions, and network recovery activities.
  • Provide operational recommendations and risk assessments to GCC leadership regarding routing strategies, delay mitigation, and recovery planning.
  • Coordinate traffic flow solutions and strategic reroutes with Flight Dispatch, Flight Crews, and external agencies.
  • Provide executive-level briefings during significant operational events.


Strategic Planning, Analytics & Continuous Improvement:

  • Develop and maintain KPIs related to airspace management, delay reduction, and network recovery.
  • Conduct post-event operational reviews and root cause analyses.
  • Identify operational trends and recommend corrective actions and process improvements.
  • Develop business cases and strategic recommendations to improve network efficiency and resilience.


Qualifications:



  • Required: High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Aviation Management, Air Traffic Management, Aeronautical Science, Business Administration, or related discipline.
  • Minimum five (5) years of airline operational experience, including three (3) years as an FAA Aircraft Dispatcher operating under Part 121 and/or Part 135 regulations.


Preferred: previous supervisory, management, or demonstrated leadership experience

Competitive compensation will be offered based on a variety of factors, including a candidate's experience, skills, education, geographic location, internal equity and other factors. In addition, a range of benefits to include medical, dental and vision insurance, employee assistance program, as well as generous paid time off, and 401K contributions are offered as a part of the total compensation package.

$114,000 $154,000 USD
