Job Description

Visa is seeking a senior attorney to lead legal support foritsbusiness operations inCentral America andtheCaribbean(CARCAM).BasedinMiami, Florida,this rolereports to the SVP, Chief Counsel for Latin America andtheCaribbean(LAC)in San Francisco, California,andtotheCARCAMGroup ManagerinMiami, Florida.

Responsibilities:

  • Leadthelegal teamsupportingVisa'sCARCAMoperationsandserve as a memberof the CARCAM leadership team.

  • AdviseandsupporttheCARCAMGroup Manager andleadershipteamon legal matters.

  • Proactively identifylegalandregulatoryrisks,develop solutions,and guideimplementationthroughstructured legal analysis, early escalation ofkey roadblocks,and creativenegotiation strategies to achievesatisfactoryoutcomes.

  • Usedeep knowledge ofCARCAMmarkets,local electronic payment systems,relevantlegalareas-includingantitrust, privacy, intellectual property,anti-bribery, and employment-andVisa's business toprovidepractical,business-focused legal advice.

  • Draft, review, and negotiatecomplexcommercial agreements,includingclient incentive,sponsorship,advertising,promotion, memorandumof understanding,technology,consultancy,contractor, andconfidentiality agreements.Developstandardtemplates and adaptU.S. documents tomeetlocal requirements.

  • Workclosely withsales,product, marketing,compliance,and other functionstointegratelegal guidanceintothedevelopmentand rollout ofproductsand services.

Visa requires at least 3 days in office, expectations of these days will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • 12 years of relevant experience.

  • Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school.

  • Current member in good standing of a State Bar with the ability to become barred or a registered in-house counsel in the state where this role is located.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Law degreefromanaccredited law school andmembershipin good standing with a U.S. state bar.

  • 15+ yearsof experienceas in-house counselatamultinationalcompanyorwithalarge law firm,withsignificantexperienceincomplexcommercialandregulatorymatters.

  • Preferredexperience inpaymentsorfintech, includingengagementwith financial and competition regulators.

  • Strong understanding oftheelectronicpaymentsindustryandCARCAMregulations.

  • Excellentanalytical,communication,and problem-solvingskills,with the ability toturncomplex legal concepts into clear,practical, andactionableadvice.

  • Excellentwritten and verbal communication skills in Spanish and English.

  • Ability toserve asa strategicadvisortoCARCAMleadershipbypressure-testingideas,identifyingrisks, andassessingstrategic changeswith potentiallegal or business implications.

  • Proactive, solution-oriented approachandability to thrive in a fast-paced,evolvingenvironment.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to buildeffectiverelationships with internal clients at allmanagementlevels, while collaboratingwith LAC regional and global teamsacross a matrixed, multi-countryorganization.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.

  • Some international travel may be required.



Information for US Applicants

For roles located in the US, the estimated salary range for this position is $185,000.00 to $ 296,100.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.Visa has a comprehensive benefits package for which this position may be eligible that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k), FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Wellness Program.

Work Hours

Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements

This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements

This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.
