Wabtec Now Hiring for a CNC Machinist (Direct Hire)

Location: Duncan, SC

Pay Rate: $22.00 - $28.00 per hour

Schedules Available:



  • 2nd Shift: 3:00 PM-11:00 PM, plus $1.00/hr differential
  • 3rd Shift: 11:00 PM-7:30 AM, plus $1.25/hr differential
  • Weekend Shift: Friday-Sunday, 5:00 AM-5:00 PM, paid for 40 hours


Wabtec is hiring an experienced CNC Machinist for a low-volume, high-mix manufacturing environment. This position is responsible for setting up and operating multiple CNC machine tools while maintaining precision, quality, safety, and productivity standards.
Education Requirements


  • Associate degree in Machine Tool Technology preferred
  • High school diploma or GED required


Experience Requirements


  • Minimum 5 years of CNC machining experience
  • Ability to interpret and edit CNC programs
  • Experience navigating FANUC controls
  • Knowledge of GD&T symbols and inspection methods
  • Understanding of shop math, trigonometry, and the Pythagorean theorem
  • Ability to read complex engineering blueprints, tool prints, and sketches
  • Knowledge of basic rigging, crane operation, and hoist safety


Job Duties


  • Set up and operate multiple CNC machine tools
  • Complete machining processes from initial setup through finished production
  • Edit CNC programs and adjust wear and geometry offsets
  • Use Renishaw probing systems
  • Set up and operate coordinate measuring machines
  • Inspect finished parts using gauges and engineering blueprints
  • Complete first-article inspections and documentation
  • Enter SPC data and adjust machining processes based on results
  • Troubleshoot equipment and production concerns
  • Perform scheduled equipment inspections
  • Maintain daily 5S standards
  • Support Kaizen, SMED, fixture design, and other continuous improvement activities


Physical Capabilities


  • Stand and walk throughout the shift
  • Frequently lift and move up to 30 pounds
  • Use hands and arms to operate tools, controls, and equipment
  • Occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Meet the visual requirements necessary for precision inspection work
