Armstrong World Industries, Inc. has an exciting opportunity for a Distribution Center Manager to join our team in Marietta, PA. In this role, you will lead the Marietta Plant Distribution Center, helping drive safety, customer satisfaction, operational effectiveness, inventory accuracy, and team development. This position plays a key leadership role in supporting plant and corporate objectives while ensuring the Distribution Center operates efficiently, safely, and with a strong customer focus.

What You'll Do

  • Lead day-to-day Distribution Center operations with a focus on safety, service, inventory accuracy, and operational effectiveness.
  • Drive safety improvement initiatives, including safety expectations, housekeeping standards, accident/incident investigations, and environmental compliance.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of supervisors and distribution center employees by setting clear expectations, driving accountability, supporting professional development, and building a high-performance, safety-focused culture
  • Resolve order service conflicts by partnering with customers, trucking companies, Customer Order Service, and domestic and international vendor/customer bases.
  • Manage assigned budgets, including shipping labor, materials, period expenses, and working capital for finished goods.
  • Oversee Warehouse Management System and Labor Management System software and hardware to support accurate finished goods tracking and inventory control.
  • Partner with Customer Order Service, Production Planning, and internal systems teams to support integration between Dispatcher and SAP.
  • Participate as a member of the plant's Leadership Team, representing customer and logistics needs.
  • Champion continuous improvement and change management initiatives by identifying operational opportunities, implementing process enhancements, leading cross-functional improvement efforts, and driving adoption of new systems, tools, and business processes
  • Plan warehouse layout, manage space allocation, publish production schedule bulletins, and manage waste shipments and hauls as appropriate

  • A safety-first mindset with experience supporting incident investigations, housekeeping expectations, and environmental compliance.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and execute work aligned with business objectives.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally with manufacturing, logistics, customer service, production planning, vendors, and customers.
  • Comfort working with warehouse systems, inventory processes, budgets, and continuous improvement initiatives

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, technical, or related field.
  • 5+ years of full-time Distribution Center experience in a manufacturing environment or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Highly effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize, and successfully execute tasks in alignment with business objectives.
  • Proven ability to implement change in manufacturing and/or maintenance systems.
  • Basic computer proficiency with email and Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Proven incident investigation skills and familiarity with structured problem-solving tools such as Root Cause Failure Analysis or 5 Why

What Will Make You Stand Out

  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing management role.
  • Experience working with a unionized workforce.
  • Knowledge and implementation of process improvement methodologies.
  • Basic knowledge of key OSHA regulations, including Confined Spaces, Electrical Safety, Energy Isolation, and Machine Safeguarding
