Doctorate degree in physical therapy, 2 years of professional experience, and valid state licensure

Preferred Qualifications
UHC Minimum:
* Requires at least a baccalaureate degree in the field.
* AHA HealthCare Provider BLS certification
UHC Preferred:
* Master's or Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy
* Two years experience in Physical Therapy
Position Summary
The Physical Therapist is an integral part of the Physical Therapy Department and reports to the Physical Therapy Manager. This position is primarily responsible for providing direct physical therapy care to eligible patients of the University Health Center. In this role, the Physical Therapist makes a meaningful impact by delivering comprehensive, patient-centered care that supports recovery, enhances functional ability, and promotes long-term health and wellness across the campus community. By applying evidence-based practices and a holistic approach to treatment, the Physical Therapist helps reduce injury risk, improve quality of life, and empower patients to actively participate in their care. The position also strengthens interdisciplinary collaboration and contributes to overall organizational effectiveness through engagement with clinical teams, campus partners, and health education initiatives.
This is an 11-month position off the month of June.

* Demonstrates strong clinical skills with the ability to apply sound judgement, perform accurate assessments, and delivery effective, evidence-based care to support optimal patient outcomes.
* Exhibits a professional demeanor and presentation appropriate for patient care.
* Proficiency in motivational interviewing techniques.
* Effective, patient-centered communication to promote understanding and adherence to treatment plan.
* Ability to collaborate with other therapists, medical providers, and staff.
* Knowledge of electronic practice management systems and electronic health records ( EHR).

Clinical Physical Therapy:

  • Delivers safe, effective, and appropriate Physical Therapy care in compliance with UHC protocols and policies and the Georgia State Board of Physical Therapy regulations.
  • Evaluates and treats patients using evidence-based Physical Therapy practice.
  • Assesses and determines care needs based on age-specific, activity, functional status, and patient goals.
  • Develops individualized treatment plans and patient education, along with support to patients as needed.
  • Implement clinically appropriate therapeutic interventions to promote ongoing improvement, restore function and achieve patient-specific goals.
  • Accurately document encounters thoroughly in a concise, timely, detailed, and informative manner using electronic medical record and other accompanying documentation.
  • Utilizes motivational interviewing, patient education, and best practices to build therapeutic relationships, enhance patient resilience and support overall health, fitness, and wellness.
  • Provides high quality evidence-based care with proficiency in foundational skills and specialized expertise in areas of professional interest.
  • Effectively addresses and documents patient and family concerns.
  • Communicates and consults with referring or prescribing physician appropriately and when necessary.

  • Provides age-appropriate condition specific education to patients, campus student groups, and other groups on topics such as pain management, injury prevention, ergonomics, postural restoration, integrative wellness, and other physical health and wellness.
  • Creates a patient-centered learning environment that supports the achievement of individualized rehabilitation goals.
  • Incorporates injury prevention strategies into the treatment plan.
  • Ensures the availability and accessibility of appropriate patient education.
  • Leverages interaction with students to promote health education and wellness.
  • Utilizes secure messaging and approved education materials to support patient education and documents all education provided.
