Pratt St., 5th Floor Baltimore, MD 21202 The Application Coordinator position utilizes their knowledge of the Epic system and Hopkins' processes to design and build solutions for complex operational workflows. They utilize tools to thoroughly document, validate, and migrate Epic build through proof of concept and testing environments to production. They regularly use analytics tools and dashboards and evaluate data to guide business partners about decisions that need to be made when implementing workflows in the EMR. They ensure that leadership and colleagues alike are well informed of current projects, risk and opportunities. This role supports end user system issues and escalations to address urgent and emergent needs that cannot be answered through first tier help desk support, and is responsible for resolving these issues for the customer in a timely fashion. The Application Coordinator for the Grand Central/Prelude Team is directly responsible for the methods by which patients access care across all spectrums at Johns Hopkins Medicine. They collaborate directly with Revenue Cycle operational leadership, partnering to devise and implement innovative solutions, as well as maintaining existing infrastructure that supports thousands of end-users involved in the scheduling, registration, arriving, and/or admitting of patients. Grand Central/Prelude Application Coordinators interact with a diverse group of stakeholders and end users, from members of Financial Clearance teams working to obtain prior authorizations, to inpatient Bed Planners and staff responsible for patient flow and capacity monitoring across the Johns Hopkins Medicine system of hospitals, to the Environmental Services and Transporter staff who keep our facilities clean and aide in the physical movement of patients throughout said facilities. The Junior Application Coordinator (AC) participates in the development and design of the application(s) for which the AC is responsible and is required to gain an in-depth knowledge of the assigned Epic module(s). Job Responsibilities: * Analysis and Design: Employ proficient analytical skills to define systems requirements and objectives for system application and interfaces. * Communicate with project team members. * Identify data element needs for clinical and/business operations. * Prepare written documentation of clinical and/or business operation workflows. * Draft project scope plans, project plans, and issue logs; monitor and report status of assigned project task plans to Lead project staff and/or manager. * Function as a liaison to the system users and stakeholders to translate clinical and/or business requirements into technical requirements, data flows and process flows. * Educate team members on clinical and/or business operations requirements, objectives, and the relevant system applications or modules. * Set standards for naming and numbering conventions and security classifications. * Assist in developing risk mitigation strategies. * Provide support in developing reports, validating data, and developing control mechanisms. * Analyze new functionality in releases to determine how it should be used. * On-call rotation Required Job Qualifications Education: Baccalaureate degree, education, or health related field with educational courses. Professional certification(s) and/or related experience beyond minimum training experience qualifications may substitute for formal education requirement on a two years' experience-for-one year education basis. Certifications: Required to complete and pass certification in assigned EPIC application module(s) within 120 days of employment in this role. Experience: * One-year operational experience in a clinical or healthcare business operations setting or one year experience in Information Technology. * General understanding of the workflows in clinical or healthcare business operations. Preferred Job Qualifications: * Experience with implementing clinical and/or healthcare business information systems in a large-scale and complex healthcare organization. * Epic certification in the module(s) being represented. * Experience in Epic installations. * Knowledge of the current healthcare environment preferred. * Experience in developing business and/or clinical workflows related to the assigned application module. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities (KSA's): * Ability to handle analysis, design, system configuration, and testing tasks at a low level of complexity. * Ability to incorporate policies, procedures, and specific clinical practice and/or business processing needs into information systems training * Excellent customer service skills * Highly effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills to establish working relationships that foster optimal quality teamwork and education * Strong organizational skills in managing multiple priorities * Uses critical thinking skills regarding use of the clinical/business operations software applications * Detailed understanding of clinical/business operations workflows and system configuration gained by participating in validation sessions with project team members and assisting in system design. * Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, with proficiency in Microsoft Visio and Project desirable. * Demonstrated expertise in technical design techniques for related software applications. * Demonstrated knowledge of project management principles as they relate to assigned tasks. Salary Range: Minimum 30.53/hour - Maximum 53.44/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
