What's the role?

As a Field Diagnostics Engineer, you will analyze complex machine data, implement and help to develop and diagnostic solutions, and serve as the local expert for ZEISS lithography optics at customer sites, with a strong focus on the newest generation of our products.

Here's what you'll do:

  • Provide advanced diagnostics support for all generations of ZEISS lithography optics at customer sites

  • Analyze, visualize, and interpret machine and sensor data; derive root causes and propose technical solutions.

  • Focus on the latest generation of lithography products and related diagnostic concepts.

  • Test, implement, improve and help to develop new service and diagnostics scenarios in close collaboration with ZEISS teams in Germany and worldwide.

  • Act as the local point of contact for all diagnostics-related topics for our direct customer ASML and our end customers.

  • Document findings, create clear reports, and share best practices within the global ZEISS service and development community.

  • Primarily support troubleshooting remotely from the back office, with on-site presence and occasional international travel only as required.

Do you qualify?

Education & Background

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in Physics, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline. (Master's or Ph.D. preferred but not required.)

  • 3-5 years of experience analyzing technical measurements and operational data from complex equipment, semiconductor tools, or other high-tech systems.

  • Experience in Applications Engineering, Field Service Engineering, Advanced Service, Product Support, or Systems Engineering within the semiconductor or high-tech industry preferred.

  • Knowledge of optics, optical metrology, or precision measurement systems is highly desirable.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency with Python and/or MATLAB for data analysis, scripting, visualization, and automation.

  • Experience working with large datasets generated from equipment logs, sensors, or measurement systems, with the ability to translate findings into actionable recommendations.

  • Familiarity with control systems, mechatronics, optical metrology, signal processing, or semiconductor inspection systems is a plus.

  • Experience with statistical analysis, troubleshooting, and root cause investigation is preferred.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Experience working directly with customers in a service, applications, or engineering capacity.

  • Collaborative team player with experience working across cross-functional and global teams.

Compensation

  • Salary Range: The annual pay range for this position is: $95,000 - $118,000

  • Actual compensation will depend on factors such as location, experience, education, skills, and role scope

  • Eligible for performance bonus or sales commissions
