Prof. Geb Thomas is seeking undergraduate research assistants to help with a short-term project performing surgical video analysis.



About the role:


Analysts will work closely with a graduate researcher to analyze surgical components within videos of arthroscopic knee procedures. This role helps advance research validation and provides valuable, hands-on experience with real-world engineering and medical research designed to positively impact surgical education and patient care.



Pay: $13/hour



Time Commitment: Approximately 15 hours total. This includes 4-5 hours of paid training plus 10 hours of independent video analysis.



Flexibility: Analysis is expected to be completed within 4 weeks of hiring and done remotely on a personal laptop which supports MATLAB.



Who Should Apply:


No prior engineering, software, or clinical experience is necessary. Full training will be provided.



Preference will be given to students who demonstrate:

* Ability to strictly follow analytical instructions


* Good communication and interpersonal skills



* Demonstrated reliability, dependability, and a positive, team-oriented attitude


This position is only open to undergraduate students registered at an accredited institution. This position is open to UIowa students (S928) or non-UIowa students (PZ07), from which one will be hired.
