Description
Responsible for placing safety as #1 priority in day-to-day work routine for self and others. Provide excellent customer service via the communication, delivery, and administration of benefit programs to employees. Answer employee questions and work closely with other benefit analysts and third-party administrators to ensure benefit plans are operating smoothly; recommend changes for process improvements. Gathers key plan data such as participation, utilization, cost and competitive data via published benefits surveys, claims, fees, and participation data. Assists senior benefits analysts in the analysis of plan data to reduce costs and improve efficiencies.

| MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS |
Benefits Analyst I: ($57,110 - $71,390)
- Must possess a working knowledge of business and human resources practices at a level normally acquired through the completion of a four-year degree in human resources management, business administration, accounting, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Benefits Analyst II: ($63,860 - $79,830)
- Must possess a working knowledge of business and human resources practices at a level normally acquired through the completion of a four-year degree in human resources management, business administration, accounting, or a related field, or equivalent experience; and
- Two years' employee benefits experience.
Benefits Analyst III: ($73,460 - $91,830)
- Must possess a working knowledge of business and human resources practices at a level normally acquired through the completion of a four-year degree in human resources management, business administration, accounting, or a related field, or equivalent experience; and
- Four years' in-depth experience with employee benefits program management and compliance.
Benefits Analyst IV: ($84,460 - $105,570)
- Must possess a working knowledge of business and human resources practices at a level normally acquired through the completion of a four-year degree in human resources management, business administration, accounting, or a related field, or equivalent experience; and
- Seven years' in-depth employee benefit program management, benefits accounting, funding, and compliance experience in welfare and qualified plans.

| OTHER REQUIREMENTS |
- Must take all measures necessary to protect networks, devices, programs and data from cyber-attack, damage or unauthorized access.
- This position is located on site at the MDU Resources Corporate Campus in Bismarck, ND.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States, no sponsorships considered.
- Subject to pre-employment drug testing and background checks.
- May be required to maintain a valid driver's license.

| PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS |
- Benefits program certification or certification as a human resource professional.
- Excel experience using formulas and descriptive statistic functions.
- HRIS experience.

| JOB RESPONSIBILITIES |
- Track and monitor claims, fees, premiums, reimbursements, and costs; reconcile discrepancies and variances (i.e., billing, RDS, enrollment, or plan details); interpret analysis; develop summary reports for management review and decision making. Alternatively, may assist senior benefits personnel in comprehensive and in-depth analysis and reporting.
- Assist in drafting, editing, and reviewing Summary Annual Reports, Summary Plan Descriptions, 5500s, Plan Documents, retiree communications, or other corporate communications.
- Assist in the integration of companies acquired by MDU Resources' business unit(s) through vendor interface, benefit plan consolidation and supporting legal and regulatory activities.
- Assist in the development, distribution, maintenance and tracking of communications, including implementation of approved benefit changes, updates, notices, open enrollment communications and other educational or required pieces; and respond to employee and retiree questions.
- Gather, and compile, data used to respond to employee benefits surveys. Assist in benchmarking benefit plans against survey data.
- Assist in preparing and presenting benefit changes, updates, programs, and education/training to employees.
- Performs other tasks and special projects as assigned.
