Description

Ready to make impactful contributions in GNSS-based navigation to improve the reliability, accuracy, and effectiveness of our nation's strategic deterrent weapon systems?

Interested in modeling the effects of missile kinematics on GPS signal propagation and reception in large-scale test flights, and characterizing the performance of deployed flight hardware?

Eager to develop and evaluate forward-thinking GNSS and alternative navigation solutions together with a dedicated, collaborative team, in order to tackle national security challenges?

If so, we are looking for someone like you to join us in the GNSS and SATRACK Systems Group!

We are seeking an inquisitive, motivated data scientist to delve into flight test GNSS data, focusing on the postprocessed RF signal records collected during each test. By converting these records into clear, quantitative performance metrics, you will deliver recommendations that drive next generation navigation instrumentation.

In this role you will conduct indepth assessments, devise innovative algorithms, and team with multidisciplinary experts to define instrumentation and sustainment requirements that keep our systems aligned with the nation's evolving strategic deterrence objectives. Join a forwardthinking team of satellite navigation specialists whose blend of algorithm development, data analytics, and custom hardware design directly supports the nation!

As a GNSS data science and navigation analyst, you will...

  • Analyze GNSS data to extract detailed insights of navigation performance for various missions, through predictive analytics, data engineering, and visualization
  • Evaluate emerging GPS and GNSS technology (e.g., GPS modernization, contested-environment operation, alternate navigation options) and translate into recommendations
  • Develop your proficiency in navigation satellite signal physics and receiver technology
  • Lead cross-functional teams to respond to sponsor needs
  • Implement, build, and enhance innovative algorithms as we improve our simulation and data science tools to deliver insightful analysis
  • Build team knowledge-base and collaborate with staff across all experience levels, establishing yourself as a technical authority on satellite-based positioning applications

Qualifications

You will meet our minimum qualifications if you...
  • Hold a B.S. in a quantitative or engineering field such as Data Science, Applied Physics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Mathematics
  • Demonstrated trackrecord of systematically exploring innovative ways to improve the fundamentals of navigational accuracy through predictive analysis and data engineering
  • Have at least 8 years of technical experience and at least 5 years of exposure to a navigation-related field
  • Proficient in at least one scientific programming language such as Python, MATLAB, or C/C++
  • Established ability to engage both technical experts and program management, and document sophisticated technical analysis with compelling reports, briefings, and visualizations
  • Are able to obtain a Secret security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain a Top Secret level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship
You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you...
  • Hold an M.S. or Ph.D. in a relevant subject area
  • Possess a minimum of 10 years engaged in GNSS navigation or alternative Position Navigation and Timing systems
  • Have a solid foundation in statistical data analysis, Kalman filtering, signal propagation physics, and/or machine learning
  • Possess software development experience with a focus on Matlab and Python, including use of Git/GitLab with Continuous Integration
  • Are familiar with the strategic deterrence mission
  • Have demonstrated project leadership and mentoring skills
  • Hold an active Top Secret level clearance
