The Role

As an Ambulatory RN in the Family Medicine Primary Care Center, you will play a critical role in coordinating care, supporting providers, and ensuring patients receive timely and effective treatment throughout their healthcare journey. The position offers a 40-hour work week with flexible scheduling options, including opportunities for four 10-hour shifts or five 8-hour shifts with remote flexibility based on operational needs.

A typical day may include:

• Managing patient communications through in-basket workflows - including prescription refills, patient calls, result reviews, and MyChart messages.
• Conducting nurse visits and utilizing strong assessment and critical thinking skills to address patient needs.
• Preparing charts and coordinating care plans for pediatric, OB, medication-assisted treatment, weight management, and other primary care services.
• Supporting clinic operations and partnering with medical assistants, providers, and care team members to ensure efficient patient flow.
• Educating patients and families while helping them navigate their care plans and treatment goals.
• Building relationships with patients from a wide range of cultural, linguistic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing required within 5 years of hire.

Experience: 1 year of relevant experience.

Licensure: Licensed to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia. American Heart Association (AHA) Healthcare Provider BLS certification required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently traveling, bending/stooping. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 20 - 50lbs. May be exposed to chemicals, blood/body fluids and infectious disease
