DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position provides direct, person-centered care that supports the health, safety, and daily comfort of residents at the Delaware Valley Veterans' Home. As a Nurse Aide, you will perform the following duties:

  • Resident Support: Assist residents with daily living tasks such as bathing, grooming, meals, and mobility based on individual care plans
  • Safety Practices: Maintain a safe environment by reporting concerns and following all facility policies and procedures
  • Care Monitoring: Observe resident conditions, gather basic health data, and communicate changes to nursing staff
  • Room Upkeep: Help keep resident rooms clean, organized, and comfortable to support an inviting setting
  • Transport Assistance: Escort or move residents to appointments or activities using approved equipment
  • Documentation Duties: Record care activities and services on required forms in accordance with regulations

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
  • Work hours will be determined from the following shifts, with a 30-minute lunch. All shifts offer rotating days. Every other weekend is required.
    • 1st Shift: 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM
    • 2nd Shift: 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM
    • 3rd Shift: 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.
  • DMVA is pleased to announce the launch of a Nursing Referral Program, promoting the hiring and retention of nursing staff at Pennsylvania's veterans homes. Under this program, both referring employees and referred candidates may be eligible for payments of up to $4,000.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry; or
  • Six months of paid experience in the care and treatment of geriatric or physically ill patients or residents.
  • This position is assigned to a long-term or specialized care facility and requires active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
