| Position Summary |
The University of North Carolina is currently seeking applicants for a temporary, part-time Olympic Sports Dietitian Fellow. This position will operate under the supervision of the Director of Olympic Sports Nutrition. This individual will provide nutrition education and counseling to student-athletes, program development for assigned teams and student athletes, hydration testing, body composition testing, fueling station management, and other duties as assigned.
Job Summary
The Olympic Sports Dietitian Fellow will work within the Sports Nutrition Department while collaborating with staff dietitians, administration, performance team members, coaches, and other staff to serve the needs of the athletics department.
Job Responsibilities - include but not limited to:
* Lead nutrition education, support menu development, and provide meal coverage at the Training Table
* Assist the Director of Olympic Sports Nutrition with daily tasks and comprehensive program development for assigned teams
* Assist in management and operations of Fueling Stations including product inventory, ordering, receiving, unloading, and distribution
* Assist with management of work study students, volunteers, and interns
* Provide team coverage including individual counseling, team education, travel meal guidance, supplement education, and body composition analysis for assigned teams; may include team travel
* Maintain effective communication with coaching staffs, athletic trainers, strength staffs and other individuals from the Athletic Department on any nutrition related matter.
* Create educational handouts and assist with social media content related to nutrition education
* Additional tasks as assigned by the Sports Nutrition Staff
* Strictly adheres to University of North Carolina policies, representing the University in an exemplary manner
* Works effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering UNC's mission
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for assisting in the supervision of work study students, volunteers, and interns in nutrition related areas. |
| Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
Bachelor's degree in foods and nutrition dietetics or public health nutrition; or completion of an
ADA Dietetic internship with
ADA Commission. Eligibility for Dietetic Registration preferred. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. |
| Management Preferences |
* Registered Dietitian or RD Eligible within 3 months
* Ability to work a non-standard work week which may include nights, weekends, and holidays
* Knowledge of sports nutrition, medical nutrition therapy, or eating disorders/disordered eating
* Ability to work independently, take initiative or complete work tasks with minimal direction
* Experience in a collegiate sports nutrition setting |
