About This Role

Housing and Dining Services seeks a qualified applicant for the position of Procurement Officer I. This role performs procurement activities for a large, self-operated auxiliary department with five functional areas: business operations, facilities management, dining services, apartment living and residence life. Duties include:
* Purchases equipment, materials, supplies, repair parts, and services through direct purchases, contracts, competitive bidding, and other approved methods.
* Reviews and develops specifications, prepares requisitions, researches vendors and pricing, administers contracts, monitors procurement card activity, maintains purchasing records, and ensures compliance with university, state, and departmental procurement regulations.
* Collaborates with vendors and departmental stakeholders to support operational, maintenance, and construction needs while promoting efficient, cost-effective, and ethical purchasing practices.

Worksite Description

This position is On-site.

All employees must reside in the United States when they begin working to comply with state law. K-State is unable to provide remote or hybrid work opportunities for residents of the state of Idaho.


What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:



  • Requires two years of relevant experience. Requirements may be met through a combination of education and experience.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree
  • Extensive knowledge of public sector/governmental purchasing rules and regulations.
  • Extensive knowledge of financial purchase order program.
  • Ability to make mathematical calculations
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to research, prepare, and present accurate reports
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the proficient use of technology
  • Valid driver's license upon employment
