We're looking for a hands-on Sample Shop Lead who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and takes pride in building high-quality prototypes that set the standard for production. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys leading from the floor, working with their hands, and collaborating closely with engineering and production teams. Job Requirements What You Bring At least 2 years in metal manufacturing. Experience in welding (MIG or resistance preferred) and general fabrication Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, measurements, and technical instructions Comfort working with both hand tools and powered equipment Basic math skills, including working with fractions and measurements Clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate across teams A dependable, team-oriented work ethic High school diploma or equivalent Ability to learn and operate equipment such as welders, brake presses, saws, grinders, and measuring tools Willingness to obtain forklift certification Essential Job Function What You'll Do Lead the Sample Shop in building custom display units based on engineering drawings and customer specifications Interpret blueprints and translate them into high-quality prototypes Set up and operate a variety of shop equipment, including welding and fabrication tools Partner with engineering and production teams to support specialized builds and troubleshoot challenges Ensure a safe, organized, and efficient work environment Operate a forklift to move materials and finished products as needed Vulcan Industries is an equal opportunity employer and complies with all applicable federal, state, and local fair employment practices laws.
