THE POSITION

As a Clerical Assistant 2 with the Department of Health, you will help keep vital health programs running smoothly. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position supports public health activities by helping staff, community members, and partner agencies access the information and resources they need. It plays an important part in the smooth operation of State Health Center services.

As a Clerical Assistant 2, you will perform the following duties:

  • Call Support: Answers calls using Bureau of Community Health Systems (BCHS) and Department of Health (DOH) policies and procedures and knowledge of agency, local government, community, and commonwealth programs to provide information and referral on DOH programs to the general public
  • Clinic Assistance: Provide clerical support to professional staff who develop, coordinate and provide educational programs to increase community and professional awareness
  • Resource Distribution: Maintain up to date public health literature and bulletin boards
  • Data Entry: Prepares clinic activity reports, submits case reports, inputs and maintains information in the Pennsylvania Immunizations Electronic Registry System (PIERS)
  • Supply Coordination: Order and track inventory, clinical supplies, and medications following Department of Health procedures

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week.
  • Work hours are 8:00am to 4:00pm, Monday-Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting salary of $36,108 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Graduation from high school; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Other Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • You must pass a background investigation.
