Hot Form Operator, 3rd Shift:
- Schedule: Monday - Thursday 10pm-7:30am, Friday 10pm-6:30am (alternating Friday off)
- Training Schedule: Must be willing to train on Day or Swing Shift
- Shift Differential: 17% - PLUS - $3,000.00 Sign On Bonus
Our client, a leading aerospace manufacturer, is seeking a Hot Form Operator to join its manufacturing team in Ogden, Utah. This position plays a critical role in the production of precision aerospace components by operating hot form presses and related equipment used to shape and form metal materials to exact customer and engineering specifications.
This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with manufacturing, fabrication, sheet metal, forging, heat treat, welding, or heavy industrial experience who enjoy hands-on work in a team-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and load dies into hot form presses according to work instructions, routers, and production requirements.
- Set up and operate hot form equipment by adjusting temperature, pressure, tonnage, and cycle times to meet process specifications.
- Prepare metal sheets and materials for forming operations using work orders and planning documentation.
- Monitor production processes and verify that process variables remain within required specifications throughout the forming cycle.
- Remove formed parts from presses using pry bars, wrenches, and other hand tools while following all safety procedures.
- Perform visual inspections of completed parts and identify imperfections, flaws, pits, or other non-conformances.
- Utilize measuring equipment such as micrometers, contour gauges, scales, and other inspection tools to verify dimensions and product quality.
- Use grinders, plasma cutting equipment, and welding tools to perform minor finishing or rework operations as required.
- Assist team members with lifting, moving, and positioning materials and parts.
- Maintain clean work areas and properly care for equipment and tools.
- Accurately document production activity and maintain records using company-approved systems and documentation.
- Follow all safety procedures and maintain compliance with company policies and manufacturing standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a manufacturing, fabrication, welding, forging, sheet metal, heat treat, or heavy industrial environment (Aerospace experience highly preferred).
- Experience operating industrial machinery and working with detailed work instructions or process specifications.
- General knowledge of metal fabrication, forming operations, or complex assemblies preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret work instructions, routers, and manufacturing process documentation.
- Familiarity with grinders, welding equipment, hand tools, impact guns, and measuring equipment.
- Ability to use micrometers, contour gauges, scales, and other inspection instruments.
- Understanding of safety requirements in a manufacturing environment and the ability to follow established procedures.
- Experience reviewing Safety Data Sheets (SDS/MSDS) and following chemical and safety guidelines preferred.
- Basic computer and recordkeeping skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work and manage multiple tasks.
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with employees at all levels.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, schedule-driven manufacturing environment.
Physical & Environmental Requirements:
- Ability to stand, bend, and move throughout the shift in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to lift, move, and position materials and components as required.
- Ability and willingness to work in an environment with periodic exposure to temperatures ranging from approximately 1,100*F to 1,700*F.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including protective suits, helmets, gloves, and other safety equipment for extended periods of time.
- Comfortable working in an industrial manufacturing environment with exposure to heat, noise, and heavy equipment.
Education Requirements: High School Diploma or GED required.
