To continue to build upon its slate of bold drama series, FOX Entertainment is seeking a seasoned, strategic, and creatively driven Vice President of Programming - Drama to join our network team.

This Vice President will be a highly creative executive whose primary goal is to identify and oversee new, bold drama series for the network. This candidate will be an aggressive developer with exceptional taste and the ability to develop and produce high-rated shows with broad appeal. As a passionate student of the entertainment industry, they will bring a strong understanding and appreciation of the broadcast drama category, with an eye for content that breaks through the clutter. Candidates should have a stellar reputation in the creative community, as well as a proven track record of developing and overseeing highly original hit series.

This is a unique opportunity for someone to significantly contribute to the continued growth of the Network and make their mark within an excellent team of creatives.

Regular, on-site attendance at the workplace for a minimum of four (4) days per week is an essential function of the position. The selected candidate must be able to reliably meet this requirement.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Identify and create unique original drama concepts and ideas. Research and develop new show ideas that originate from both internal sources and acquired pitches
  • Effectively communicate brand strategies and guidelines to the production community; attend pitch meetings with production companies to uncover new series ideas
  • Foster relationships with new, on-the-pulse talent through pitch meetings, general research, and constant networking. Seek out writers, showrunners, agents, and managers to attract the best possible talent; find up-and- coming and influential thought-leaders ahead of the competition
  • Identify new production companies and ensure all suppliers comply with the Network quality standards tests
  • Stay out in front of competitive trends in the business and contribute to the FOX strategy for unscripted programming to meet the changing viewership tastes and demands
  • Thoroughly understand and embrace new technologies to find ways of generating more creative content
  • Work strategically to continuously reinvigorate ongoing series and ensure longevity
  • Work closely with high-level showrunners, EPs, Director/Producers, Writers, and Line Producers on the creative elements of each series
  • Create and shape materials, bringing a creative eye to all productions; evaluate and contribute to segment and episode ideas, scripts, rundowns, graphics, and music, rough cuts, and fine cuts to ensure the network's editorial and production standards are upheld throughout the creative process and through to delivery
  • Attend table reads, run-throughs, and shoots, and work with the show's producers and partners to solve creative and production-related issues
  • Collaborate closely with Business Affairs, Production, Finance, and Marketing to ensure alignment across timelines, budgets, and creative needs
  • Work in lockstep with Business Affairs on budgets, deal memos, delivery of content, and talent contracts
  • Survey and analyze competitive networks and programming to ensure the Network remains vibrant and ahead of the pack
  • Foster a creatively courageous environment where big thinkers, diverse characters, and bold ideas are rewarded and encouraged

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • 12+ years of experience in scripted television, with progressive, executive-level experience developing and shepherding a wide variety of high quality, boundary-pushing series that break through
  • Bold taste, exceptional credits, and deep relationships in the creative community (particularly with high-level showrunners, writers and talent)
  • Proven track record of delivering results and a reputation for fostering creative and collaborative cultures
  • Passion for storytelling, strong creative instincts, and an unwavering commitment to excellence
  • Expertise in production budgeting, scheduling, post-production, and delivery across diverse formats.
  • Collaborative leadership style and exceptional communication skills; able to work fluidly across creative, business, and production teams
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication, organizational, interpersonal, prioritization, negotiation, and management skills
  • Ability to think outside the box and encourage this type of thinking among team members
  • Highly driven; exhibits passion and excitement for the work
  • Avid TV watcher who loves entertainment, knows what shows are top rated, and has a point of view on the future of content looks like

  • Confidence and instincts to generate big ideas, and is equally excited about diving into the particulars in the field - from wardrobe, to set, to casting. Able to deliver projects and assignments on schedule and without errors, and to take responsibility for said projects
  • Can move fast and is used to managing disparate stakeholders, teams, and personalities

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $185,000.00-300,000.00 annually. This role is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
