Location: Ideally based in the Denver, CO area. Could be remote, based in the US.

The Senior Data Scientist role is pivotal in developing and delivering predictive and inferential models to improve business performance at Zayo. Responsibilities include leading data science and machine learning-based programs and initiatives, managing modellife cycles, and mentoring orallocatingproject work for junior data scientists. This role requires a blend of deep technicalexpertisein statistical and machine learning models, code development, innovative thinking, andeffective communicationskillsto collaborate with stakeholders across the enterprise.

You will play a crucial role in driving data-driven decision-making and innovation,contributingto the organization's success by applying statistics and ML techniques to data assets to solve business problems. Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills are essential for success in this role.

This role will have the opportunity to solve a variety of business problems across the enterprise including in Sales and Marketing, Customer Experience and Retention, Network Operations, Security, Product, and Enterprise IT.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the full model development lifecycle for data science models (ideate, develop, deploy, andmaintain).

  • Lead Data Science-focused projects with responsibility for planning andallocatingwork for any junior members on the project.

  • Contribute toenterprise data strategy and process improvement efforts with a focus on innovation through data science and machine learning.

  • Mentor junior members of the departmentto helpthem gain necessary senior skills to advance their careers.

  • Work in an Agile framework and provide proactive communication and progress to management & stakeholders.

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to manage project status and any blockers.

  • Proactive communication and updates on progress to both management and the organization.

  • Partner with business stakeholders to understand business problems andidentifysolutions for development backlog.

  • Help develop and deliver a training curriculum for citizen data scientists across the enterprise.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Arts/Science with a numerate degree or 8 years of experience in a role with data manipulation.

  • Minimum of five (5) years of data science experience or a PhD.

  • Intermediate experience with one of SQL and Excel and familiarity with the other.

  • Advanced experience with at least one of R, Python, or functional equivalent.

  • Demonstrated background in statistical analysis and machine learning.

  • Specialization orexpertisein a particularfacetof Data Science (Time Series models, NLP, Bayesian statistics, Deep Learning,etc.).

  • Excellent Interpersonal skills.

  • Effective communication of technical work to non-technical audiences.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Ability to interact effectively with all personnel.

  • Excellentwritten and verbalcommunicationsskills.

  • Autonomousbut also comfortable with a team lead role on a project.

  • Abilityto plan,prioritizeand organize effectively and work under pressure deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • AMastersdegree and/or certificate from a data science boot camp may substitute for part of this experience.

  • Cloud-based computing and shell scripting.

  • MLOpsExperience.

  • Experience on a DS/ML Automation platform like Dataiku.

Estimated base salary range: $112,800 - $173,600 USD/annually.

The base pay range shown is a guideline and reasonable estimate for this role. It takes into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions. Actual compensation offered may vary from the posted range based upon geographic location, work experience, skill level, certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Non- sales roles may be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive plan. Sales roles may be eligible to participate in a sales incentive plan.

Additionally, this position may be eligible for certain benefits, such as health insurance, life insurance, disability retirement plans, paid time off.

The posting will be active for a minimum of 3 days. The active posting will continue to extend by 3 days until the position is filled.
