THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position supports a variety of financial and accounting tasks that help keep county operations organized and accurate. The Fiscal Officer 1 role assists with fiscal operations across nine Human Services programs. As a County Fiscal Officer 1, you will perform the following duties:

  • General Ledger Work: Complete reconciliations and prepare journal entries
  • Financial Tracking: Maintain fixed asset lists and update depreciation schedules
  • Cash Management: Process transfers and monitor available funds
  • Invoice Processing: Prepare, review, and verify vendor invoices
  • Report Preparation: Compile recurring program and financial reports
  • Policy Support: Assist with budgets, audits, and fiscal procedures

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
  • Overtime and travel may be required.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years as a Fiscal Technician and six college credits in accounting; or
  • Five years of bookkeeping experience and six college credits in accounting; or
  • Three years of accounting and/or budgetary experience and a business related associate's degree that includes six college credits in accounting; or
  • One year of accounting and/or budgetary experience and a business-related bachelor's degree that includes six college credits in accounting; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes or is supplemented by six college credits in accounting.

  • Hiring preference for this vacancy may be given to candidates who live within Potter County. If no eligible candidates who live within Potter County apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
