Data System Analyst (University of California, Davis; Rancho Cordova, CA): Provide data management expertise in planning, designing, developing, implementing & administering data-based systems that acquire, prepare, store, & provide access to data/metadata. Develop & manage custom reports using application-specific reporting tools. Understand database design related to report writing & data extracts. Gather & document business requirements from customers related to report design & technical solutions. Assess reporting tools, design reports, & choose the best delivery method. Provide training & support for staff in business areas related to report development & data files. Design, test, implement, & evaluate information systems for the organization to ensure successful implementation of the products. Design, develop, & implement system functionality to meet strategic needs of the organization, & complex cross-departmental needs. Assess workflow needs across departments. Utilize appropriate product development models, principles & techniques in system development & implementation. Analyze current documentation & data flows in departments & designs system to reflect appropriate workflow. Align information system standards & operations with administrative & operational strategies. Participate in application deployment go-live support & application on-call support rotation, including adhering to policy availability & response times. Assess new features for possible inclusion in app updates. Develop data/information documentation for projects. Plan & conduct data analysis for projects, including managing multi-institutional partnerships. Establish & uphold documentation standards, including data naming & value domain descriptions. Develop conceptual/detailed data models. Develop dimensional models for data subject areas. Design diverse data systems, create interfaces between computer systems, & manage metadata for digital collections. Provide technical support & guidance to the team to ensure timely application implementation. Create technical documentation, including system design, architecture maps, & flows. Mentor project & operation team analysts in technical design, support, & build of applications. Independently request & coordinate technical work from other departments to meet project goals. Track progress toward meeting project deadlines & fulfilling stated requirements. Participate in project management by setting & adjusting timelines for technical design & build activities, accommodating changes & unforeseen issues. Offer technical support to staff & project teams for complex issues. Apply standards to system requirements, design, & project evaluation. Estimate project completion effort & assess how requested changes affect tasks & milestones. Recommend improvements to methods, processes, & hardware/software for enhanced end-user products. Participate in IT change management processes. Schedule & conduct technical analysis sessions. Coordinate review of data models & data definitions. Communicate with the Program Team, IT staff, & stakeholders to develop & implement features that address UCDH's needs. Develop documentation for system design, modification, maintenance, & enhancement. Work with IT partners & relevant departments to create system fallback procedures. Provide ongoing application management & serve as the technical point of contact for inquiries, updates, planning, & post-implementation support. Coordinate with appropriate teams to include application upgrades/replacements. Collaborate with IT partners to address application needs for future technology. Coordinate with other teams to ensure applications are managed & updated efficiently. Act as liaison for production issues, coordinating with customers, IT, & vendors on required fixes or enhancements. Document ownership, custody & access requirements for data subject areas. Create & manage workflows.
