Job Description

Position: Production Supervisor -Lay-Up Department

Summary - Provide working supervision of CHI's manufacturing operations as directed by the Operations Manager. Ensure that safety, product quality; personnel performance, operating parameters, and equipment maintenance meet established department goals and standards. Coordinate resources and manpower to maximize productivity and priorities and objectives. Issue work assignments to Lead Operators as appropriate.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Take a proactive role in providing a safe working environment. Conduct all operations in a clean and safe environment. Schedule appropriate cleaning to maintain high level of safety and quality culture.
  • Maintain high ethical standards and integrity. Communicate and conduct oneself in a professional manner, which is conducive to a healthy and productive business environment.
  • Lead, train, supervise, evaluate, and coach assigned production personnel. Assist Lead Operators with planning work and use of resources (people, tools, equipment, etc.) to maximize efficiency and throughput while meeting our quality requirements.
  • Effectively communicate company and department goals, achievements, problems, solutions, practices, changes, and policies. Encourage positive communication. Enforce all company policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Review production schedules, standard manufacturing procedures, quality control requirements, check lists, set-up information, previous results, and other data necessary to accurately communicate requirements and answer questions.
  • Review equipment operations to ensure reliability. Take corrective actions to be sure equipment is operating properly, maintained, and that personnel are correctly operating the equipment.
  • Responsible for achieving daily Flex Earned Standard Hours and throughput goals. Execute recovery plans to achieve goals.
  • Achieve productivity and efficiency targets. Monitor and manage department expenses including, overtime spending, consumable materials, and small tools.
  • On time delivery performance. Use Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) approach to improve or recover to a late schedule.
  • Review and approve all production employee weekly e-time data, vacation, sick and holiday schedules to ensure all manufacturing requirements are met.
  • Lead or actively participate projects related to cost reductions, safety, productivity improvements, and quality improvements.
  • Work closely with Operations Manager, other Supervisors, Engineers, Safety, Logistics and Quality to ensure all goals are met.
  • Lead & participate in continuous improvement projects and teams.

Overseeing leads and team members performing the below task

  • Assigns tasks, trains new employees and works with department management to ensure schedule and quality initiatives are met. Ability to work multiple programs.
  • Passionately works in a safe manner by following all safety rules, and providing recommendations to help make PCC a safe work environment.
  • Achieves team production goals by working to meet all operational and quality standards to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Fabricates, assembles, reworks, and repairs products per the Master Work Instructions (MWI), by utilizing precision instruments, hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment as instructed.
  • Reads work orders and related documentation to determine methods and sequence of operations and dimensional and finish specifications.
  • Lays out cutting lines on plastic materials, such as sheet stock and fiberglass or graphite cloth, following template pattern, blueprints, sketches, or sample part, using measuring and marking instruments.
  • Cuts material to size, using shears, knives, cutters, scissors, router, or saw.
  • Mixes ingredients, such as resins, catalysts, fillers, accelerators, and colors, according to formulas, manually or using mixer.
  • Sets up and operates forming machines and presses, or laminates plastic cloth plastic cloth and resins or impregnated cloth onto layup mold or bonding fixture, to shape parts.
  • Wraps bonding fixture or mold in vacuum bagging materials, attaches fittings to mold or fixture, such as vacuum connections, thermocouples, and probes, and exhausts air from vacuum bag to prepare lamination for curing or bonding.
  • Verifies dimensions of parts, using precision instruments, such as dial indicators, micrometers, and calipers.

Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years applicable experience with at least 2 years supervisory experience desired.

Requirements:

  • Ability to prioritize workload.
  • Strong organizational and communications skills (verbal and written).
  • Interface with several organizational levels.
  • Strong math skills and a solid understanding of statistical data reporting.
  • Working knowledge of personal computers as well as Windows based software desired.
  • Proficient in ERP transactions desired
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprint drawings.
  • Excellent communication skills, including fluency of the English language (written and verbal).
  • Must be a US Person

For informational purposes only, the range of pay for this role is $87,800 to $131,400 US Dollar (USD) Salaried based on a variety of factors. For informational purposes only, this role is eligible to participate in the Company's Quarterly Cash Bonus Plan, paid out at the quarterly bonus factor of 2X the Company's bonus multiple, based on the Company's performance in the applicable quarter . Employees will receive 80 hours paid time off every year. Employees will also receive 10 paid holidays. Employees (and their families) are eligible to participate in the company's medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are eligible to enroll in the Company's 401(k) plan.

This position requires use of information or access to production processes subject to national security controls under U.S. export control laws and regulations (including, but not limited to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR)).
