THE POSITION

The Information Technology Generalist 1 role offers a chance to support important public safety work across the Commonwealth. This position allows you to guide frontline staff and help keep essential technology running smoothly. You will play a key part in improving services that people rely on every day. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position supports the technology services that help Public Safety operations run smoothly. It focuses on guiding service desk performance and managing essential technology assets. As an Information Technology Generalist 1, you will perform the following duties:

  • Service Desk Oversight: Monitor service desk operations and guide contracted agents to follow procedures and deliver quality support
  • Technical Guidance: Provide instruction and advice to help resolve complex issues and support new applications and processes
  • Asset Coordination: Manage the lifecycle of IT equipment and support the planning, design, and tracking of hardware and software
  • Data Analysis: Review service and asset data to prepare reports and recommend improvements to support operations
  • Process Development: Develop procedures, documentation, and training materials to support service desk and asset management functions

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to three days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Mechanicsburg, PA. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as an Information Technology Trainee or Information Technology Technician;(Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Three years of information technology experience in applications development or applications maintenance, networking or desktop services, web site development or web site design, or other information technology support/administration services; or
  • One year of information technology experience in applications development or applications maintenance, networking or desktop services, web site development or web site design, or other information technology support/administration services, and an associate's degree in any information technology field; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Other Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
