What You Will Do:

GFT is looking for a talented Architectural Designer to thrive within our Boston Architecture practice! This is a hybrid position, and the selected candidate will work an average of three days per week in the Boston office.

Working closely with a multidisciplinary network of industry specialists and our in-house engineering teams, our architects harness advanced technologies and creative thinking to deliver exceptional projects that help shape and strengthen communities. The Designer develops technical solutions with limited supervision from a Senior Architect or Project Architect. Provides design support across a diverse portfolio of projects, including new construction and renovations, serving transit, civic, and institutional clients. The Designer executes complex and challenging assignments in collaboration with the project team, applying established design techniques, procedures, and standards.

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Prepares project documents including but not limited to plans, details, and initial set up work on projects.
  • Gathers and records information such as product information and cut sheets to be used for cost estimating and specifications.
  • Supports efforts for studies and reports and prepares technical reports or sections of reports.
  • Leads sheet set up on project drawings, drawing schedules, plans, elevations, sections, details, and specifications.
  • Leads reviewing and implementing redline markups on drawings and finalizing project work.
  • Prepares 3D imaging using proprietary software for client and in-house presentations independently.
  • Perform basic code evaluations and information gathering requirements for review with supervisor.
  • Individual is capable of working proficiently on their own with limited direction from supervisors.
  • Demonstrates sound judgment in knowing when to ask questions, enabling efficient progress within project timelines while minimizing interruptions to supervisors and team workflows.
  • Coordinates work with other team members through communication and supervision.
  • Capable of following direction, project / office standards, and implementing constructive criticism to improve work product and development with supervision.
  • Responsible for project work during construction assigned by supervisor including but not limited to submittal tasks, RFI's, supplemental work including sketches, or submittal review
Education | Experience:

What You Bring to Our Firm:

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture from an accredited program
  • In process of fulfilling internship requirements and on path for licensure as architect in the state of residence
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in an architectural office at the Designer level.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit/Building Information Modeling (BIM) for design and technical documentation.
  • Proficiency with SketchUp, Enscape, or other 3D modeling software is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Strong written and verbal communication, organization, and collaboration skills

Compensation:

The salary range for this role is $70,000 to $100,000. Salary is dependent upon experience.
