Job Description Visa's Corporate Legal Technology team builds secure, scalable platforms that power global privacy, compliance, and legal operations. We design and deliver systems that support data privacy programs, legal holds, data retention, workflows, regulatory reporting, and internal and external audit needs. Our applications are critical to the trust and integrity of Visa's brand and operations. The Staff SW Engineer will work on designing, developing, and implementingapplications that improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the Corporate Legal Tech and Non-AML compliance team. This role will be responsible for building techno functional designs, coding, test automations, and mentoring developers and testers for successful delivery of business capabilities. This role will play a pivotal part in the Corp Legal GAI initiatives planned for FY26 and beyond. Core GenAI initiatives include: Legal GenAI Integration & Enablement: Lead the design, development, and evolution of the MCP Control Planeserving as the central orchestration and governance layer for all Legal GenAI and agentic workflows across Corporate Legal and Data Privacy. Own core MCP capabilities including tool/resource registry, request routing, policy enforcement, authentication/authorization (authN/authZ), audit logging, rate limiting, and environment separation (dev/test/prod) Establish MCP as a productized internal platform, defining APIs, contracts, SDKs, versioning strategies, and backward compatibility guarantees for Legal GenAI consumers. Enable GenAI platforms (e.g., Harvey AI and future legal agents)to act as MCP clients, securely invoking enterprise legal tools and datasets through standardized, governed interfaces. Design and implement MCP tool adapters/connectorsfor Legal systems of record Supporting end-to-end agentic legal workflows(e.g., matter intake, invoice review, IP portfolio analysis, legal research, policy Q&A, reporting) while ensuring all tool interactions flow through MCP controls. Responsibilities Develop solutions for mission critical applications within internal compliance and Corporate Legal business functions. Responsibilities include analysis, creation of technical designs, development, unit testing and support activities. Design and Build applications using a variety of frontend and backend technologies. Design and build applications with high level of scalability, resiliency, and monitoring. Review designs and code developed by other developers to ensure quality of deliverables. Work closely with business partners, TPMs and Product managers to drive and or facilitate user story grooming, functional and technical specifications, workflow designs, use cases and process re-engineering. Manage complex application dependencies. Define and refine engineering best practices and mentor junior team members for their adoption. Stay abreast of emerging technologies and proactively assess and evaluate the adoption thereof into the organization. Conduct POCs to prove concepts and select best solution approach. Work with limited direction, usually within a complex environment, to drive delivery of solutions and meet service levels. Must be self-motivated with ability to work in a fast-paced agile delivery model. Support agile activities like sprint planning, daily stand ups, sprint review and sprint retrospective. Productively work with teams in multiple geographical locations and time zones. This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in the office will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager. Visa requires at least 3 days in office, expectations of these days will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager. Qualifications Basic Qualifications: 5+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor's Degree or at least 2 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 0 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 8+ years of relevant work experience. Preferred Qualifications: 6 or more years of work experience with a Bachelors Degree or 4 or more years of relevant experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or up to 3 years of relevant experience with a PhD 10 years of professional software engineering experience across the full SDLC, including design, development, testing, deployment, and operations Expertise in Python, JavaScript, NoSQL At least 3 years of experience building applications on one of the modern JavaScript frameworks such as Angular, Node JS or React Experience in developing and architecting large-scale, production-grade applications Experience in developing and implementing AI systems and algorithms is a plus Experience with agile development incorporating Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery, utilizing technologies such as GIT, Maven, and Jenkins Ability to create wireframes and responsive designs that result in a great user experience Experience in NoSQL such as MongoDB and Cassandra or in PostgreSQL. Enjoy working fast and smart, and able to grasp complex concepts to design and build algorithms from scratch Strong interpersonal, facilitation, and leadership skills along with effective communication (both written and verbal) skills and the ability to present complex ideas in a clear, concise way Ability to work in a complex organization to determine business and customer needs, providing the best solution to meet those needs Strong teamwork focus and the ability to foster collaboration within and across teams Passionate about learning and applying new technologies and takes pride in delivering working software Candidate must be able to proficiently multi-task and be able to work independently or in a team environment U.S. Applicants Only The estimated salary range for this positionis $131,600.00 to $ 210,300.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. Work Hours Varies upon the needs of the department. Travel Requirements This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.
