The Master of Communication Management (MCM) program at the Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism, University of Southern California, is seeking a qualified Adjunct Instructor to enhance the instruction provided by our full-time faculty. Specifically, this position will involve teaching CMGT 599: Creator Analytics.

This course explores the analytical foundations of the creator economy and examines how communication professionals measure creativity, influence, and impact in digital environments. Creator Analytics sits at the intersection of data science, media studies, and communication strategy. Students will engage both quantitative and qualitative approaches to understanding creator performance, platform dynamics, and audience engagement.

Topics may include platform metrics and performance indicators (views, engagement, retention, virality), algorithmic visibility and AI-driven distribution, network effects, monetization strategies, ethical and equity considerations in data-driven creativity, content optimization, and case studies of creator-brand partnerships. The course emphasizes translating analytics into strategic insight, equipping students to apply data-informed decision-making within creative, marketing, and communication contexts.

Ideal candidates will possess significant professional experience in digital analytics, creator economy strategy, social media analytics, performance marketing, data-informed content strategy, or related fields. Experience working with platform analytics tools, influencer or creator campaigns, or digital performance measurement frameworks is highly desirable. Prior teaching experience in marketing communication, digital strategy, analytics, communication research, or related applied communication fields is preferred. Graduate-level coursework or advanced academic training in these areas is also desirable.

Requirements for consideration include a B.A., B.S., M.S., or an M.A. degree in a related field. Previous teaching experience is desirable. For some courses, outstanding professional experience may be substituted for academic credentials.

Applicants should send a letter describing their background, interests, and areas of expertise, and an up-to-date resume or curriculum vitae through the Careers at USC website.

The hourly range for this position is $37.88 - $46.96. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
