The City of Corona has an opportunity created by the promotion of one of our Assistant City Managers to a City Manager role at a neighboring agency; we are open to filling the position at either the Assistant City Manager or Deputy City Manager level, depending on the qualifications of the successful candidate.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Assistant or Deputy City Manager will lead complex citywide initiatives, collaborate directly with department directors on strategic priorities, and oversee projects that influence municipal operations, financial sustainability, and quality of life for residents. From advancing innovative programs and organizational improvements to supporting major policy and operational decisions, this role offers meaningful involvement in high-impact work across the organization. The position provides outstanding exposure to executive-level leadership, strategic planning, and cross-functional collaboration, making it an ideal opportunity for an experienced local government professional seeking to expand their leadership experience, strengthen their management expertise, and make a lasting impact in a dynamic and forward-thinking community. (Please note: the position is FLSA Exempt - ineligible for overtime compensation.)


QUALIFICATIONS GUIDELINES

The ideal candidate will bring a strong combination of education, leadership experience, and strategic expertise in local government administration. Typically, candidates will possess a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in public administration, business administration, finance, human resources, or a closely related field, along with seven to ten years of progressively responsible municipal management experience that includes financial operations, budgeting, purchasing, accounting and reporting, public financing, investment management, organizational administration, and complex citywide initiatives. Experience working effectively with elected officials, executive leadership, community stakeholders, and regional partners is essential.
