Position Summary

In the Loan Officer position, you will act as a liaison between applicants and our financial institution, helping qualified applicants obtain loans and set up payment plans. Your duties will include meeting with applicants, preparing loan proposals, and examining active loans.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Meet with loan applicants to identify their needs and collect information for loan applications
  • Analyze active loan files on a regular basis and recommend solutions to speed up the loan process
  • Complete loan contracts and educate clients on policies and regulations
  • Interview applicants to define financial eligibility and established debt payment plans
  • Monitor and update account records
  • Submit loan applications in a timely manner
  • Prepare detailed loan proposals
  • Reject loan applications and explain deficiencies to applicants
  • Respond to applicants' questions and resolve any loan-related issues
  • Operate in compliance with laws and regulations

Knowledge, Skills, & Experience

  • Solid understanding of local, state, and federal loan regulations
  • Proficient with standard software such as Windows, Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Maintain proper and professional etiquette and appearance.
  • Strong attention to details, high degree of accuracy and excellent organizational skills
  • Exemplary customer service skills
  • Well organized with the ability to multi-task
  • Self-discipline, an aptitude for making good decisions and works efficiently under deadlines
  • Must be able to handle the pressure of a fast-paced office high work volume
  • The ability to work both independently and as a team member
  • Knowledgeable in all aspects of escrow, from opening to closing, is required

Education Requirements

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Minimum of 1-year experience as a loan officer preferred but not required
