Job Summary

The Voorhees Lab at Caltech is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Technician to support lab projects and operations. This is a term position.

Essential Job Duties
  • Assist with general laboratory organization and set-up.
  • Generate and maintain common laboratory reagents.
  • Clone and test various protein expression constructs.
  • Purification and analysis of single proteins and protein complexes.
  • Functional experiments in mammalian cells and in vitro translation systems.
  • Assist with electron microscopy grid preparation and data collection.
  • A highly motivated and qualified candidate may develop independent projects.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in science with an educational emphasis in chemistry or biology required by date of hire.
  • Must have good practical experience in all basic molecular biology techniques, especially the techniques related to the essential job duties.
  • Must have hands-on wet lab experience.
  • Must have protein expression experience.
  • Must understand basic workflow and operations of laboratory research processes.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Excellent organization and communication skills are required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A background in molecular biology or structural biology.
  • Experience with mammalian tissue culture.

Hiring Range

$19.00 - $25.75 Per Hour

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
